Always delicious breakfast, coffee and atmosphere. Friendly staff, easy to park on street or in lot out back. Beer and wine is available I believe as well.
We drove down from Andover, a half hour away, on a Tuesday morning to meet two friends. It was fairly early, Tuesday morning, ideal for getting a good feel for any restaurant. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness, friendliness and good service. I enjoyed my brisket hash immensely and the waitress was awesome about bringing our coffee. The bathroom was immaculate, except the hand towel dispenser was not working. Can’t wait to come back to this place.
Why is this place still here? It must be great for the saturday brunch because it’s not the dinner menu…Like 99% of my dining opportunities, this one was driven by location convience. With our family schedule we generally eat where we are when it’s meal-time. My wife and I have wanted to check this place out ever since it replaced one of our favorite haunts (Pop.). Finally we got our chance and I found no redeeming item on our table. Maybe the walk-in availability for 5 on a saturday nite for dinner should have been my clue…Actually, the Seared Ahi app was ok. Too bad it was hard for me to tell after my palate got blown out from the hidden horseradish cream smeared on the bottom of it.Fried Pickles which seem to be on every menu lately were average, relying on the spicy ranch for flavor. BBQ Pork sandwich was d r y. It needed to be shredded more and tossed with a real amount of sauce. The coleslaw was just down-right odd. Sweet? Pineapple maybe? Dunno, but not good…Pasta Bolognese got left on the plate. It was SO sweet I swear someone must have oops’d and dropped the sugar dispenser in it while measuring. The garlic bread was tough to the point of being toasted hard. Wild mushroom Penne was un-inspired with nondepth of flavor at all. Think alfredo tossed with penne, a few chopped up mushroms and some wilted spinach all tossed together. Baby Back Ribs were boiled to death. Supposedly dry-rubbed, I could not find any evidence. Tasteless boiled pork again relying totally on sauce to have any life. Finally, the Risotto of the Day today was done with ham, mushrooms and spinach. My wife and I disagreed on this one, her liking it while I would have left it. She dis feel the ham added nothing to it. I like my risotto more creamy. We wint be back for sure. Iced tea rating: 2.5/5
