Great beer selection; great place to try something new. Big as your head pretzels with choice of dipping sauces. Beefy dogs. Its like great food at the ball park without having to pay for/watch the game.
The Smoked Elk!!. Run to this restaurant and order one before the entire town discovers this gem and eats the Upper Midwest out of available elk! The house-made, Belgian-style mustard at the table is one of the best that I’ve had. The wild boar option was really tasty, too. Great beer selection.
The Hungry Sisters stop for lunch. We ordered a German brat and an Elk brat – with the brined kraut – and fries. We each had a flight of local beers. All in all it was a good experience. The brats were good – fries were awesome and flights are a great way to taste a variety of beers. The bartenders were efficient and friendly. The restaurant sits on the corner of E Hennepin and University with large windows that wrap around so it lets in a lot of light and makes for great people watching. We will stop in again when we are in the neighborhood!!
Something Different. A friend and I checked out this spot and liked it! New Bohemia introduces a new menu with unique items (wasabi mayo, etc.) and a casual seating style (picnic bench-like long seating). Great for a casual meal if you’re looking for something different. I would definately go again! 🙂
We really love Wurstkuche in LA Arts district, so we were thrilled to see nearly the same concept at New Bohemia Wurst & Bierhaus in Minneapolis, which we kind of like The Italian vegetarian sausage is good, but it’s the only veggie selection (LA has 3) and the soft buns are perfect. Only one topping comes with the sausage and the portion is small, especially since they charge for extra toppings (you get 2 Wurstkuche). Fries are very good and dips are tasty (you get 3 at Wurstkuche, just one here). They have a wonderful beer selection with good happy hour prices.
Has a good vibe but there is only one vegetarian sausage on the menu. Decent beer selections. Great location.
Left me wanting…food!. They menu is sparse at best. There are several selections of brats, fries and a few other odds and ends (including a loaded potato which they were out of when we went). The interior is completely uninviting and feels a little like a garage with two long cafeteria tables. There was one bartender working and we never saw any other employee while there. The good news is, their beer is tasty if you can get over the rest of the place.
