I went here with my family for breakfast/brunch. Although, the restaurant did not seem busy – food (i.e.; french toast) lacked taste, and the rest of the food we had ordered, came out cold and was rather bland.

This place has a lovely atmosphere. Perfect spot for a casual business lunch or coffee. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Server was attentive and kinda cute!

Worse than disappointing. Finally made it the new place, and I wish I would have passed on it. They try to be high classed but they fail in oh-so many ways. I got the Frieda Meat Purveyors burger and regret it. It was obviously a cut & frozen round patty, and NO WAY was it 1/2 lb. I ordered it Medium and it came to the table absolutely burnt to a crisp, like a burger forgotten on the grill for an hour or so.The waiter had the nerve to try to serve it to me instead of getting one re-made. My dinner companion had the Thai Peanut Chicken and I swear it looked as if it was scooped out of a bowl of leftovers. The Ramen was mushy and I think the chicken was frozen also. Maybe the whole mess was frozen & microwaved. If you are on a budget and only have one night out per week then avoid Wilde Roast, or you will be greatly disappointed.

The mere name of this cafe (Oscar Wilde was brilliant) was reason enough for me to explore it. Situated on SE Main Street facing the Mpls skyline and just steps away from the river, there’s a quiet, old world ambiance about Wilde Roast. Upon entering, you’re welcomed into what looks like a Victorian living room with stuffed chairs, a fireplace and antique decorum. Cozy, charming and very inviting, it’s the perfect setting for an afternoon of studying, an intimate evening with friends or a casual business meeting. The hot chocolate here is off the charts delicious and there are plenty of baked goods to entice the wandering appetite. For being a local coffee shop, the menu is more extensive than one would expect offering a delicious brunch- stuffed brioche French toast and my favorite classics- as well as lunch and dinner. The flatbreads and chickpea sandwich are my favorites but so far I’ve never had a dining companion disappointed. Sam is a great waitress and service is always lovely.

Uninspired Lunch- to say the least. We sat outside on a really nice day and that was the best part of lunch, by far. I had the ‘tuna melt’ with sweet potato fries. The fries were adequate but the sandwich was terrible; the tuna tasted like it was from a can, there wasn’t any cheese, it had a few chopped pieces of tomato. This for 13.95$. My wife had the ‘crab cake salad’. It came with one large, mediocre crab cake and the ‘salad’ was a bunch of greens with just a hint of some kind of dressing and absolutely nothing else; no fruit, no nuts, no anything. And again, this was ‘just’ 13.95. As a comparison, I had a tuna melt at Eli’s over on Hennepin a few weeks ago and it was 5x as good and just 8.99$. First and last time at the this place, for sure.

Sad. I’m sad the old place closed. The new place is just like any of the other hundreds of restaurants around the metro area. The old place was unique and a coffee shop with a sense of community. Now I don’t feel comfortable going there to have a coffee and hang out, but rather have to be formally seated and behave just as in any other restaurant.
