Pretty good, great portions. Is Dave’s the best bbq? I doubt it. I like it though. I think it is flavorful and finger-licking good. I am sure there are places that are better, but are they in MN? Yes, this is a chain and I like to support local, but the food is good, the portions are big enough for a family and the prices are decent. I have never had bad food from here once and the service is always great!
Love Dave’s. People love to bash Dave’s, People always bash the one at the top. It’s the American way. But in blind taste tests, all bias aside, Dave’s always stands tall. The portions are huge, the quality is consistently great and the atmosphere is nice! We all know that you have to throw out any reviews from Texans comparing anything in the world to anything in Texas. Everything there is always the best according to them (just ask them).All that aside, Dave’s is good BBQ and compares favorably to a lot of the good joints in KC (sorry Texas, but KC does BBQ better, no matter what you think). The Ribs are great as are the sauces.But hey, it’s BBQ. There is no standard so it really is up to the individual.
Not the best BBQ but it is consistent and they actually smoke their meat unlike some other ‘BBQ’ joints. The baby backs and pulled pork are always good. Not for vegetarians, it’s all about the MEAT.
Ok BBQ. Good but not the Best. I lived in Texas for 6 years and ate a lot of great BBQ. They could improve there Ribs, but really liked the brisket. I would go back for the atmosphere.
Liked it — Kinda. Having lived in Austin, TX for nearly 8 years, we’ve been challenged with finding a BBQ restaurant as good as what we’ve had there: Rudy’s, Salt Lick, Stubb’s, etc.So, over the nearly 5 years we’ve been in the Twin Cities, we’ve occasionally gone to several of the Famous Dave’s places and been pretty disappointed. So, after a long absence, we decided to try again. What we concluded from the past was that we did not really like the pulled pork sandwiches because we didn’t really like the sauce they used for it. (The server said they use that sauce on everything.)This time, we tried the sausage and St. Louis ribs and the BBQ chicken and beef brisket. We liked the St. Louis ribs and the beef brisket enough that we’d go back (probably) again for them — especially because it’s not too far from where we live.For side dishes, we had the corn on the cob (way over cooked and mushy), the coleslaw (not bad though a little too much liquid), the Wilbur beans (pretty good), and the fries (pretty good).So, we’re still on the hunt for really good BBQ in the Twin Cities….
It’s Famous Dave’s! What else can you say? Good BBQ, good music, and a friendly staff here. The location is smaller with the old style of order before you sit! I still like that the best. Never have to wait for the check!
