Denied.. I love love the donuts and cakes, but despite their tastiness I will not return. My husbands favorite menu item is the hot ham and swiss croissant. On one occasion it was made for him with no problems. The next, the owner told us she had none made. My husband asked if it could be made. With the most grudging frown you’ve ever seen, the owner says ‘I suppose,’ and turns her back on us. The next visit, she tells us she can’t make it because she is out of croissants. There happened to be a croissant in the bakery case right in front of us, which my husband pointed out. We were told that croissant was the wrong size. Even when my husband told her he didn’t care if it was small, he would take it for the same price, she said no, she wouldn’t make it. We tried one more time, and they grudgingly made the sandwich, then told a guy behind us she wouldnt make it for him, she was done. it’s on the menu, for goodness sakes.. If you hate making an item, take it off the menu. Don’t make your customers feel like they’re a big inconvenience to you. I want to like them, but they’ve struck out with me. I’d rather eat grocery store donuts than feel uncomfortable and guilty about ordering my food.

Good food, my kids love the cupcakes and doughnuts. Although have to say I hesitate to go there, the service is so poor. The last 3 times I’ve been there the same unfriendly woman has been behind the counter. I truly feel like I am putting her out by ordering. Rude to me and my children. Sad because we used to love going there on occasion before school. We need to find a new, friendly location.

Glad we dropped in!. We almost didn’t go to Daube’s because of the poor reviews, but we had a very nice lunch at Daube’s Down Under and were curious how the bakery could be that bad when the owners were the same. After sampling a very tasty feta sandwich on a poppyseed baguette, a croissant, a pretzel, and a scone we have to say we just don’t get it. They were all very good, the staff was pleasant and very patient. The kolache are not like the ones I’m accustomed to, but they are on the list for our next visit!Try it despite the reviews!

Not worth it. Prices are very high. Owner is rude to people and has a reputation for being mean. Hard to believe they can stay in business with that business model. Cakes are good. Doughnuts are better at Hy-Vee across the street and 3/4 the price (same for cakes). Workers aren’t nice either but can you blame them when their boss is not nice?

Good Kolaches. Okay, I have had my love/hate relationship with this place. I love the raspberry jelly donuts, but half the time, they are still doughy so you can’t really eat them. The Kolaches are tasty if they are fresh. I think their cake has a very strange taste to it. I have tried 4 kinds of their cakes and have not been satisfied with any of them. I do like their sourdough bread, coffee, and poorboy sandwiches. The service is also iffy; 90% of the time it is bad.

What’s up?. When I first moved to Rochester, people raved about this bakery. I guess it was my fault, my expectation were quite high based on the recommendations. I was expecting a top notch ptisserie, I found a joint that can’t make a scone or a kalache. Too bad. The donuts are average and unremarkable. The muffins are dense and greasy. Even the coffee is bad. Don’t get me started on the bagels. I hear they have good cakes……
