  One of the good Japanese restaurants in Rochester. You can have sushi or hibachi style dining. Large bar. Large hibachi area. Hospitable hosts. Sushi rolls are very good. My favorite is the volcano and the playboy. Steak and shrimp hibachi is awesome. A very good place to satisfy your sushi craving.

  Terrible Service. We tried. This place is lucky it is in Rochester MN. If they were in a town with more choices this place would have gone out of business years ago. After we were seated we stated that we would like to have a couple of drinks before ordering an entree. Nothing was said. After getting our drinks we ordered a roll and another drink. A few minutes later we were asked to order our entree which we did not. We ordered an appetizer and told him that we wanted to have our drinks and apps before ordering. A few seconds later we were told that we needed to go to another table and were marched like a soldier in the Bataan Death March to a new table. ( no disrespect for the Heros that did actually indure the atrocity) So we sat at the new table waiting for our drinks that were ordered 15 minutes prior. Nothing came for us. New orders were brought to other people at our table though. After waiting, laying my bottle down on the table, and asking for our drinks again without receiving them my wife said she was done. So she went outside and I tried to pay for our drinks and the roll that we actually did get. The rude women would not believe me that we had not got the Jalapeo app that we had ordered so she stomped around running her mouth. At this time my annoyance threshold was passed and my mouth started to run. I informed them that there is a reason that the parking lot was empty in more than a few words. So good luck to the owner of the place. I hate to see a business fail but I can not see any profitable days ahead for you unless you change. The best part of the experience was that after we left we found Jenpachi. They had great service and great food. So please try Jenpachi. Just because the place is not the newest in town it is a lot better experience. The second best part of the whole experience was that other unhappy patrons were very amused by my few words to the stomping lady. Good luck,Steve

  Horrible service!. They actively ignore you when you show up to eat there; this when the restaurant is half empty. The hostess is practically rude and offensive when the place is full – and you have a reservation. The food is reasonable and my son enjoys the stupid tricks the hibachi chefs do. Otherwise we would have said sayonara to this place long ago.

  Never a bad experience. I don’t understand some of the reviews I see on here. They either have addressed these issues or I just get lucky with the people who work there when I come in. My family and I always go around 6pm and take up enough room for our own hibachi table. I’d suggest going this way instead of trying to sit at the few normal booths they have and ordering food there. We’re always greeted by someone at the door and promptly seated and served our drinks. The chefs themselves have always been entertaining and good at what they do. The food is always excellent and the portions are more than enough. My favorites are the chicken and steak tenderloin, and others have enjoyed the scallops a lot. I also usually get plenty of Sake’ from the chef squirting some for us without even ordering any!

  Mostly a service issue…. My husband and I went here last night despite the bad reviews because we had a movie to catch at the nearby theater and wanted to try a new (to us) restaurant close by. The bad service reviews are accurate. Despite being not very busy (AT ALL), we still waited over 10 minutes to get one of the numerous empty seats. There was no dedicated host, and it took a long time for someone to even acknowledge our presence. Once seated, it again took at least five minutes to see a server, and after that, a long time to get water. We ordered at 6:35 and got our water, salad, and soup all at once at around 6:50. Our food (two maki rolls and vegetable tempura) arrived at 7:15. Then repeat the slow experience to get the check delivered and picked back up. Our food was pretty good, but I wouldn’t order the Zen roll again. The veggie crunch roll was good, but not as good as the tempura roll at other places. The veggie tempura was pretty good. Generally speaking, the food was fine, but I would only come here again if I wasn’t in a hurry (at all) and didn’t mind a slow paced meal. This is NOT the place to go when you are running late for a movie and trying to squeeze in dinner first. The servers are very nice but slow and they must be understaffed.

  Never eat here!!! Ever. Place is awful, worst service in the world, came in at 9pm said they close at 10pm. At 915pm they closed and couldn’t order any thing else. We didn’t even get to order.. Called the next dAy, and the phone wrong off the hook, a kid finally picked up and saId they were the manager, that’s professional!! Not,,I’ll never comer here again or recommend it to anyone,

  Yummy sushi!. Osaka has sushi comparable to what I have eaten in Minneapolis. Not only do they have great sushi, but their prices are great too! Go on a week day and you will find their half price sushi menu. Such a great deal!
