Our family has eaten at Thyme several times and the food is awesome! If you are planning to order Chicago style deep dish, order ahead. Excellent, homemade food with amazing seasoning!
Food and Service. Came to Rochester for Mayo Clinic for four days. Stayed at the Holiday Inn and ate at the Thyme Restaurant each day and evening. The food and service is outstanding. We have to come back in a month for medical reasons and will stay and dine at the Holiday Inn!
Lunch at the Holiday Inn. Occasionally I stop at Thyme for lunch at the bar. There are very few other customers when I am there. I’m not sure why… The food and service are both very good. Prices are comparable with the sports bars and casual restaurants downtown.There is usually a lunch special on the chalkboard. The menu is mostly bar food like burgers, hot sandwiches and wraps. Specifically I liked the buffalo chicken wrap (fried chicken and fresh tortilla) and the Ruben/Rachel sandwich. The pizza in the warmer at the bar is cheap and good enough for the occasional lunch. I have never ordered pizza from the menu so I can’t comment on it.
Really Bad Service. This place is a joke. We ordered a Chicago Style Pizza. We were told 45 minute wait. As we were waiting, another couple came in and sat behind us. They too ordered a Chicago Style pizza. Well, about 20 minutes later, we watched a waitress bring out a pizza and assumed it was ours. It was not, it was for the couple behind us. I then saw the waitress talking to the Manager. The Manager then came over to our table, and said they lost our order. So we could either wait another 45 minutes, or get a thin crust in 20 minutes. We left. The waitress gave the couple behind us our pizza and then they tried to cover it up.
AWFUL. All oil no flavor, no service. AVOID AT ALL COST!
Non-mobile Review. The decor at Thyme isn’t much to look at, but as far as restaurants in hotels go, this is probably about average. We went for burgers, and I got the Scarborough Fair burger with fries. It contains a pesto made with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, and then comes with onion rings on the burger and a side of lettuce and tomato. I was wondering before I bought the burger how much you’d actually be able to taste the spices in the pesto, but I found that you can definitely taste the spices. If you don’t like those spices, you may want to avoid this burger, however, I thought it made this burger stand out. I don’t know if I would put this burger at the top of any list of best burgers in Rochester, it definitely is memorable, and better than some other burgers I’ve had in Rochester from places that get more love. Portion size is definitely large, making these burgers bigger and more filling than a lot of other places as well. Fries were generous as well, and properly seasoned. They could have been a little bit warmer in my opinion, but I don’t know if I’ve found many places that actually serve fries that are warm enough without getting into the too hot to handle category.
