Better Than Expected. You wouldn’t know it from the outside, but this place serves great steaks. Their seafood special are great too. My only minor complaint is that the wine selection is not on par with the great food they have at the Ace
Popular Neighborhood Bar and Restaurant. I’ve been going to the Ace for years. The service is great and the food is much better than you would expect. The one thing I would stay away from is the fried chicken. If they have a fish special, go for it, they are really good with fish
We came for the Friday Fish Fry last week and we were pleasantly surprised. Like someone said before, don’t let the location or the shady people in the neighborhood fool you. This place has excellent food and the staff AND patrons are extremely friendly. The fish had a light batter and was fried perfectly. Served with slaw, homemade rolls and a baked potato. Plus, every Friday in the bar you get a ticket (for free) and they pull numbers every 20 min. for their meat raffle. You can use the same ticket til it ends at 9:00. Someone else near us had a burger that looked great and another had the broiled walleye that was served with clarified butter. He said it’s the best in town and I don’t doubt it. I’m looking forward to going back and trying some other menu items.
Don’t be scared. Too bad for their location, however, service in the bar was excellent. Drink orders were filled promptly and with a smile. We also ordered entrees in the bar and were very pleased with the food and the check. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and my fiancee’s red snapper was gorgeous. We will be back for dinner again.
Give it a try. Good Food if you are on that side of town. I was surprised at how tasty it was.
Fake cheese. Any restaurant that uses plastic cheese on its burgers deserves a rating below 50%.
