Ok I love this place, found it whileWorking in the neighborhood, they have a daily item / theme, my coworker went here Monday and said the beef stroganoff was awesome. I stoped in the next day sad to find no stroganoff but happy to find a delicious taco Tuesday in its place. Coffee was hot doughnuts were picked over but being the current only close place I can imagine they go fast here. Might stop here in the way home for some jerky.
Best hot lunches. If you are looking for something difficult for lunch than fast food this is the place to go! Menu changes daily so friend on Facebook for the daily specials.
What happened here? I walk into the new SLP location and 1)There’s no more doughnuts and 2) Every piece of fresh meat looks like it’s been sitting in the cooler case for 2 weeks. I loved this place when they were in Hopkins. I’d go out of my way to stop there then, now that they’re 3 blocks from my home I don’t even want to walk there.
I don’t know what happened, but this place has dropped to the bottom of the scale.. I found Nelson’s maybe a year ago and loved it. It was bright and freindly and had such great deals in the buther shop, and hot lunches were great.I’ve been through there for the last time, sadly. I’m a little afraid of their food, not a good emotion to have. The last couple of times I was there, the lunch quality was down, and the butcher shop was unappealing. I chalked that up to a bad day – twice I did that.Yesterday, I ordered their baked pork chop lunch. The inside was bloody. Stopped eating that immediately. The mashed potatos were kind of brownish and cold. I looked at the butcher shop. The meat in the case was mostly kind of purple / brown and looked dried out on top. If I had meat at home that looked like that, I’d toss it. I dunno what went wrong. I’d like to continue to frequent the mom & pop butcher store and bakery, but not when I’m afraid I’m risking my health.
