The beer wasn’t anything special & the bar tender couldn’t be bothered to recommend one. Don’t bother stopping.
We are always satisfied here. This time we had special dietary requirements and they came through very nicely – very willing to accommodate. I had Sean’s Mom’s Meatloaf and my husband had the walleye. Very nice wait staff.
Favorite bar downtown. Great, homey atmosphere right with awesome staff. Best during happy hour (in-house brews $2.50). They consistently rotate their beer selection, keeping just a few steady, so you can usually try something new with each visit. As far as food, I’d really recommend finding a different spot. I’ve eaten @GW over 20 times, and it’s been bad at least 15 of those times. Stick to wings, unless you like a warm meal served cold.
Plastic cups. I’ve been here before and the food is good not great. I have always enjoyed their house brewed beers and tonight was the exception. I ordered a fine Belgian style dubbel and was horrified when they served it in a plastic solo cup. Tacky! Their excuse was because of the Winter Carnival and people taking beer off premises. Well I can say for certain that at 10 below no patron in the restaurant had any intention of loitering outside with a beer! We passed Meritage and Kincaids on our way back to our car and guess what? I saw only glassware. You are either a fine brew pub or a corner bar serving Bud and Coors Light. You better decide Great Waters because you can’t be both.
Not going back. 8 ounce beer pours and PLASTIC solo cups. No thanks, not acceptable from a brew pub.
Happy hour before Xcel events!. I visited Great Waters Brewing Co. for happy hour drinks before a MN Wild game, and was impressed! The beer was great and the happy hour drink specials were awesome as well. The venue was pretty crowded (given they’re super close to the Xcel, where the Wild plays), so seating at the bar was super limited, but we stood close to the bar and socialized instead. Overall, I’d highly recommend Great Waters, ESPECIALLY for their happy hour if you’re headed over to the X for an event.
Good burgers and sandwiches. There were 5 of us and service as quick and professional. Each burger and sandwich was very good. The portabella sandwich was excellent as was the rueben. For a Friday nite we were able to get a table and no wait.
