Great neighborhood spot. A welcome addition to Highland Park. We’ve been in several times since it opened and had good experiences with each visit. Service has been prompt and attentive, food is tasty (try the walleye) and the drinks are well made. Had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table a couple of weekends in a row as it can get pretty busy on Friday or Saturday, but I suppose that’s to be expected. Cool bar area with one side featuring hightop chairs and the other side having a raised platform and low chairs. For a new spot, they seem to be off to a good start and I look forward to seeing the place grow.

Went on a Friday evening @6:15. They appeared to be completely staffed, but after several parties were seated many of us waited for 20 minutes before water made it to the table and then another ten minutes went by before our waitress appeared. Just plain slow – the whole experience. Our waitress Kimberly was attentive. Food was not superb but was good. Wine was great. Overall, seemed the restaurant was unprepared for its patrons. On our way out the hostesses were very touchy with each other. Nothing weird, just wasn’t professional…in their own little world. Will I return? Depends on reviews I see after mine.

Room for improvement. As a new restaurant, it is hard to write a review, so these are just my initial thoughts. I am so glad to see something go in this area. I live nearby and there isn’t much to choose from. The cocktail and beer selection was great. I had a blackberry Manhattan and a craft beer. Sat and ordered from the bar, and although the bartender was a little spacey, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food however, was lacking. We split the prime rib french dip from the dinner menu and the garlic cheese fries and shrimp tacos from the happy hour menu.My first bite was the shrimp tacos, which were pretty fishy. They used small frozen shrimp. The rest of the taco was pretty good: cilantro, fresh jalapenos, cream sauce, tomatoes. However, the jalapenos had the seeds left in so after the first few bites I couldn’t eat any more as my mouth was on fire (I love fresh jalapenos when they have been seeded). With a couple of changes these would be pretty good. The cheese fries looked like homemade fries with a white garlic cheese on them. The cheese was hard instead of melty, so you basically had to use your fingers to rip it apart and put a big chuck on a fry. After about 6 or 7 fries there was no more cheese. The fries themselves could have been salted so they were good to eat when the cheese ran out. The taste of the cheese was good though. The prime rib dip was good. It came with au jus and horseradish sauce. I prefer fresh horseradish, rather than a mayo type dip, but it was still good. For $11 with no side, I am not sure it brought it though.Atmosphere was good. Slightly chill. Music playing while the tv was on mute. I want to try a dinner item there to see if it is better prepared than the happy hour food or sandwiches.
