Only Soul In Minnesota. Glad I found Soul Food Heaven. I could complain about a lot of things but I won’t when you are hungry for food with SOUL, tired of Perkins, Denny’s, which you never complain about!! Soul food heaven is a gift from God. The Help is pleasant and kind if you are. Smothered Pork Chops just great and they give you 2. My wife throws down on Peach Cobbler and they rate right up there with her. I drive from Apple Valley to get there and it is worth it. You can’t tell me Cracker Barrel is better No way Come on Man Black-eye peas, Real Red Beans and Rice, Mac and Chesse, Catfish, Smothered Chicken, and real Chit’lins. where else? in Minesota? and they are open when they say they are.

Best catfish I’ve found in MN, and the best fried wings I’ve found anywhere at all. If you don’t like this then you don’t like soul food.

Heaven it is not. I went to Soul Food Heaven after buying a Daily Deal. I read the reviews on another website and it looked awesome. I’m not sure when these people ate there, because that was not my experience. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday evening. There were no menus out and we had to ask for one. We ordered chicken wings, walleye with broccoli cheese and red beans and rice, and fried shrimp with mac and cheese and fried okra. They were out of peach cobbler so I ordered lemon cake instead. We waited approximately 20 minutes to get our food, which did seem a bit long. The kitchen is set up in a way that you can see the freezer and refrigerator from the waiting area. It became clear very quickly that everything we ordered was coming out of the freezer! I also say the woman pull the lemon cake out of the refrigerator and I saw the same lemon cake at Sam’s club yesterday!!The chicken wings and shrimp were the best things that we had. While a bit greasy the wings had good flavor. The shrimp were tasty, but were basically fried shrimp with Old Bay on them, so really nothing special. The fried okra was cold and a bit slimy. The mac and cheese was miserable. The chunks of processed cheese were not even melted! My boyfriend thought the red beans and rice were ok and he said the broccoli and cheese was good, but it was clear that it was likely bought in bulk from Sam’s club. My boyfriends walleye was also over cooked and a bit fishy tasting. While it was not a completely terrible experience I am certainly glad that I did not pay full price for this food! I do not understand what all of the great reviews were about.

Nothing Heavenly at All!. My family and I drove all the way from the western suburbs of Minneapolis looking forward to good old fashion soul food meal. To our dissapointment, what we got was a terrible mis representation of soul food and definetly not an heavenly experience. This is not a sit down restaurant. Rather a take out establishment with some booth seating primarily for waiting for your order, and wait you will! We ordered four meals and we waited 30minutes. When we finally got our food, The greens where salty enough to give you high blood pressure. The spaghetti was bland and cold. The philly steak sandwhich was served in a doughy oversided roll with pre ffrozen meat that tasted like, well… frozen meat. The steak burger actually confused us. It looked liked sliced steak meat, but it tasted like gyro meat. Even the chicken wings left much to be desiered. The wings were fried hard and very salty. The Mac and cheese did not have enough cheesse in it and was heavy with pepper, the mac was wack! Of all that we ordered, the catfish was cooked well and had good flavor. Everything else was terrible! With all the slick advertisment this place has on the radio and on line, the expectations are set for a traditional southern style soul food restaurant with great food. Sorry to say, not the case. their menu is filled with a variety of main dishes, dinner combos and desserts. Although, the way the food leaves the kitchen does not live up to the potential of the menu or the establishment. A higher quality of fresh and raw products, along with a higher quality of food prep, would give justice to the many great dishes they offer on the menu and bring patrons closer to the heavenly experience they are expecting.

Had to see for myself. I read a few reviews on this place most were pretty good until I bumped into this which crazy enough made me go to see for myself! Its a small mostly takeout place in St.Paul the service was good they were vary nice and smiling! I had catfish Mac and collard greens the greens were a bit spicy but the fish and Mac were great after I ate I asked who was the owner and it was the young African American man that had taken my order so I let him read these reviews and he humbly said lol not even McDonalds has 100% satisfaction but I just hope people come to see for themselves!I will definitely eat there again!

Don’t waste your time coming to this restaurant. This place is all but heavenly. I came with my family and upon entering the place was a diaster and not clean. The food looked as if it sat all day , not safe for consumption. The eating space was not pleasant and looked as if their furniture came for the badck alley somewhere. Needless to say my family and I left without ordering a meal. I hope the owners read this review and make changes, otherwise I don’t see them in business very long.

Service and food sucks!!!!!. My family ordered from Soul Food Heaven. It was the WORST experience ever!!! i called ahead of time to see if they could get the order started as we had a meal for everyone- about 7 items, we were told that we could not do that. My husband even had the order written down on a piece of paper and the cook asked to keep it by him as he cooked the food. SO……….Why was my husband there for an hour and a half!!!! SO…..Why was my mom’s baby gangsta hamburger with everything end up being on a hoagie sandwich bun with only meat?!! She was supposed to have a hamburger with everything. SO… Why did every meal that was supposed to come with lettuce and tomato not have ANY lettuce or tomato?!! The chicken wings were salty enough to give you high blood pressure and they totally forgot to include our philly cheese fries. I tried calling the restaurant for about an hour straight and GUESS WHAT??!! NO ANSWER!!! This restaurant is a joke. Only go there if you are looking for a good laugh at the losers waiting an hour to get their food without everything you asked for. BTW: The staff told my husband that if he wanted to get things like lettuce or tomato you have to get there early as they run out!!!! LOL!! It was a waste of time and money as our order costs us about $50 and all we got was a ton of meat and bread and salty chicken!!
