The place has one of the nicest ambiance next to the Still water lake. But there are mosquitoes to be cautious off. The food is average. Most cocktails had very little alcohol and tasted like fruit drinks or mocktails.
I have frequented this place several times over the last decade. I have only come for lunch on the patio. The seating is plastic tables and chairs but the view is very nice, hence we return. The food is average – nothing wrong with it, but nothing too remarkable either. Today we had Peroni beer on tap ($7), a walleye sandwich ($14.50) and a Reuben sandwich ($12.50). Kettle chips on the side- its an upgrade for fries, tator tots or fruit. Inside dining has plenty of seating along the windows facing the river.
Opps! You lost us.. The Dock has been a favorite for years – for the food, the architecture, the ambiance and the river views. But something has gone bad in the kitchen in recent years. The food taste and presentation has slipped noticeably. Salmon, for instance – overcooked – lack-luster presentation served on flavorless potatoes that seemed like they came out of a box… not even an herbed sauce smothering the fish could save this dish… And that’s just one example of four or five recent disappointments. So, we will sadly no longer be able to recommend visitors to one of our old favorite Stillwater hangs…If the chef changes the Dock Cafe should certainly make a big deal out of the changeover – because we are not the only ones who have noticed their slow demise.
