After reading other reviews we decided to still give it a try. Surprisingly it was very good. The manager was very accommodating and the bartender attentive. Pork chops was very tasty and the kitchen steak yummy. We would visit again.
Lots of better choices. Avoid at all costs. Been here several times and been disappointed every time. This is a poorly managed, poorly run restaurant, and won’t last. Everyone there seems to be having a bad time, including the servers. Sat at the bar one night and it was the slowest service I’ve EVER had and it wasn’t even busy! The bartender was also the host and waiter for many tables. The ‘famous’ burgers were messy, tasteless, and too-cute-by-half (which goes for a lot of the menu items).Outside gets too hot & also has bad service. Parking is a pain. Many other better choices in town.03 May, 2010Been here twice, sat at bar. Service is sooooo bad. Very slow even when not busy. Clearly bad management/training/staff allocation. More importantly, the food is less than mediocre. Pork belly burger impossible to eat and bland for having so many ingredients. The pork buns are dry and flavorless. The chef is so pretentious that nothing comes with ketchup and salt/pepper shakers are nowhere to be found (a lot of the food needs it, too). The new beet salad is poor – absolutely no ‘roasted beet’ flavor at all. Small beer list. Staff seems unhappy (esp the servers w/the bartenders, who also serve as hosts, phone answerers, runners, etc). In general, chef tries too hard/is too cutsey without the flavors or product to back it up. Nobody seems to be having a good time here, least of which are the customers. I won’t be back. Try Marx or Domacin or the Dock.
We came near close so we enjoyed the peace and quiet the dining room had to offer. Very modern and classy. Our server was good not great, however, she was closing for the night so that might had something to do with it. The Manager Wong (spelling?) was incredible. Friendly, personable and very knowledgable. The food was excellent. Apple salad, tortilla soup to start and we shared the steak sous vide. To top it off the Manager brought us Brown sugar creme brle as a congratulatory gift for our honeymoon to finish off our meal. Definitely recommend The Kitchen to anyone looking for a wonderful experience and terrific food. We will be coming back the next time we are ever in Stillwater!
Wonderful Fare and Patio. My wife and I went here on a nice day over the weekend and sat outside. The patio is great and the service was top notch. They have a very nice beer list as well as cocktail list with numerous craft beers and inventive cocktails. We had the sweet potato fries which were just alright, but also shared the chicken wings which were outstanding. For dinner my wife had the Chop Salad which she enjoyed, while I had the pork tacos which were better than expected. Overall 4.5/5 stars.
Very impressed!. The Kitchen is in the old Stone’s space, although it’s a bit stripped down inside compared to Stone’s. It feels like it needs a bit more in ambiance, but the food was very good! The menu is posted here, and I thought I had my choices narrowed down until I asked for our server’s recommendations. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, and he suggested the braised short ribs, which I had overlooked on the menu. My wife got the short ribs and I decided to go with the scallops. Both dishes were excellent! You can order sides like Cheesy Taters and Grilled Asparagus with Tarragon sauce (+$4), but the portions are big enough that you can pass on those and still have a very filling meal. They have a good wine/beer list, and they have some interesting (and good) signature cocktails.I was never a fan of Stone’s, too expensive and not very good, but The Kitchen is very good and we’ll be going back soon!
