Great Food. One of the best flat iron steaks we ever had.. My husband and I had dinner at Manitou Station just before Christmas (2014). This was our first time eating there as it’s a drive for us since we live in Hastings. The place was hopping, so we just sat at the bar for a drink and then decided to order dinner. Had a really great bartender (women from Ireland, sorry I forgot her name). She was wonderful. Very attentive (and she was busy) and had a really great sense of humor. We both ordered the flat iron steak. It came with homemade mashed potatoes and mixed (really good) veggies. The steaks were perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. As good as what we get at Salut on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, which is a restaurant we frequent. We plan on having dinner at Manitou Station again this weekend and are taking our son with us this time. Also, we got a homemade truffle at the end of our meal. YUM!
Look very nice and was impressed, until the old curly mullet bartender with his super non classy attitude was telling us that the liquor we requested was trashy and they don’t have it Because the bar was to classy for it and we should go to white bear bar. He needs a different job. then he was bitching and throwing a mini tantrum about not having glass ware. Our group will never go back due to his outrageous attitude/ personality not a friendly environment.
Amazing! Happened upon Manitou Station as we were driving through town looking for a place to eat and couldn’t have been happier! I had the scallops which rival that of many of the best seafood places in town and my husband had the Parmesan crusted BLT with turkey. We both loved our meals and will definitely be back. If you like the greasy but bland chain restaurants (that we avoid at all costs) Manitou is much too good for your tastes!
Big disappointment. My husband and I have been looking forward to trying Manitou Station for over a year. It was a big disappointment. The food was alright but the service was the worst I’ve seen in a long time. Maybe it was because it was the day after St. Pat’s, I don’t know but the entire evening could be summed up with the word ‘waiting’. Waiting to be seated, waiting for the waitress to come, waiting for our order to be taken, waiting to be asked it we wanted a refill (never happened), you get the idea. Then my husband’s prime rib came, bone cold. More waiting to be asked if everything was alright. I had finished my food by the time the waitress finally got around to asking him. Next, the busboy. There were several empty tables around but he put his full tub of dirty dishes on the table of the couple dining next to us! He never even wiped the table when he picked it up, the greasy outline of the tub was clearly visible on the table! We could not wait to leave. Won’t be back. Service was so poor not even worth a second try. Really seemed like the whole place was lacking management.
A very honest review. Quick review: Go for-Monday night trivia ($2 finlandia drinks and potential to win up to $60 bar tab and a swag bag)Happy hourAppetizersRuebenPrime rib dipDetailed review:The Manitou Station is a great bar with some excellent food, friendly service and a good atmosphere. The happy hour specials are good and Monday night trivia is entertaining and offers a great drink special as well ($2 finlandia drinks). If you like appetizers such as scotch eggs, Irish fritters and pub fries or entrees such as a prime rib dip or a rueben, this is the place to go! I have also heard a couple people say they would recommend the scotch egg burger. Most of the other things on the menu are not bad but they are a little pricey for my taste and drinks off of happy hour are about average. The time to prepare food/drinks seems about right (rarely very fast or very slow). My only bad experiences there (after 100+ visits) were music-related: about a year ago, the band was a bit loud and more recently, the music on the speaker system was not what I enjoy listening to but in both cases, my friend and I just hopped to a different bar rather than complain as we saw it as a rare, minor inconvenience. The following trips there were enjoyable as usual though. If you are in White Bear Lake, I would highly recommend the Manitou Station.
Great experience with new menu. After reading some negative reviews it’s only fair I tell about our wonderful dinner last evening at Manitou Station. There were four of us. All of us were very satisfied with our orders which consisted of: Chicken Wild Rice soup, Caesar Salad, House Salad, Reuben sandwich, Chicken Marsala, Woodford Salmon with Sweet Potato Mash, and Filet Mignon. Not only was each dish excellent but the service was timely, the food was hot and presentation was nicely done. Our server, was very competent, pleasant and spent time answering questions we had before we ordered. Two of us had been here before and had felt the menu was not extensive enough but now were pleasantly surprised with the new menu which is used both at lunch and dinner. We definitely will return and are happy to have another good restaurant in White Bear. For those of you who previously had any bad experiences I suggest you give it another try. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. Keep up the good work Manitou!
Wow this was sub par and very exspensive for what you get. Had the ruben have to say this is the first time I have ever had dried out corned beef. Not good folks not good
