Authentic Mexican. The food here is great. I love their Smothered Burrito (Chimichanga covered in enchilada sauce). They have good variety and make their own salsas and chips. They sometimes have inventory issues, especially their Flan. I’ve tried to get that a few times to no avail. The prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended for lovers of Mexican cafe style food.

The best food sometimes is found in strip malls. It’s true. Located in a very depressing and ill-visited development near Highway 96 and 35E, logic will tell you that Casa Lupita MUST be good, mainly just because it SURVIVES. There’s nothing going on in this sleepy little retail corner, evidenced by the boarded-up gas …station you pass to get here. But there’s a reason Casa Lupita and the Castellanos family have been successful here for nine years – their food is really good. Reasonably priced, authentic Mexican – the only thing missing is the cervezas and margaritas (sopapillas and flan make for a pretty nice substitute). Try the torta – basically a taco on a roll – it’s huge and delicious served on a freshly grilled telera roll. I’ve yet to eat it in the store – trust me, no one wants to see a tiny girl like me down a sandwich that big, and I nearly finish it, too – I’m working on it. I haven’t been thrilled with the guac – but I’m notoriously picky on that, and frankly it may just be the universe’s way of telling me to stop already with the guacamole. With the selection of incredible fresh scratch-made salsas on hand, it really isn’t necessary anyway. The enchilada sauce is very authentic and flavorful – so don’t expect red sauce. It’s more like a very rich, meaty spicy brown gravy. The spicy pork and beef is nicely spicy – just enough to make your nose run a little bit! Be forewarned, table seating is VERY limited, so be prepared to take your lunch on the run if it’s busy.

Fantastic!. Can’t get enough of this place! Fresh, fresh, fresh food, made to order (mostly) and tasty as all get out. Plus, their Facebook posts are hilarious and they frequently have specials. Since it’s a small place, and many menu items are prepared as you order, it sometimes takes time to get your order, but it’s always worth it.

DELCIOUS. I beleive that this is the best Mexican joint in the twin cities. The chimichangas are so delcious. I love the tacos and tamales. It is hard to find a place with good service and food. They have both

Just enjoyed our first meal at Casa Lupita. It definitely won’t be our last! Delicious!

Solid Mexican Fare. Definitely more of a take-out place than dine-in, but there are a handful of diner-style booths. Cafeteria style service with all the ingredients in sight – like an authentic Chipotle, but much better. Everything looks and tastes homemade, including the chips/tortillas. Friendly, quick service even if they aren’t very strong with the credit card machine and till. Casa Lupita just jumped up near the top of the lunch rotation list (short list since we’re talking White Bear Lake).
