I hesitate to write this review because I don’t want to be unfair to this cute establishment–we arrived on. Friday morning to find only one lady working the entire show-/ she was the hostess, server, barista AND cook! Poor thing! She handled it all with hurried grace, I must say (coworker didn’t show up). Did we wait an hour for our food? Yes. Did we mind? Not really. She was doing the best she could. The pain perdu was excellent! Husbands wrap was good too. Super adorable historical house turned into a cafe. I will definitely be back again.
When I tell you they serve the best shrimp and grits, it’s an understatement! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing. May take time to get food based on how busy it is but well worth the wait!
Worst. Took 10 minutes to get a regular coffee and an orange juice. Took an hour to get the the grilled seafood press and there were three shrimp on it and no seafood. Guy across from us had a hair in his sandwich. The owner was super rude and unapologetic about everything. The poor servers were sweet, but had to apologize to almost every table about the wait and the disorganized owner and the chaotic kitchen.
Wonderful atmosphere, great customer service, food is great. Great menu, feels like New Orleans. Southern Charm is in abundance in a heritage home
Myself and two friends were interested in finding a unique place to eat breakfast in the area and were interested in this establishment. Unfortunately, the reviews of this place were on the spot. Slow service and little food was the story of the day. The employee that was there, was the only employee. She had to turn people away because the owner had left her by herself. That is beyond shameful for the owner or manager to do that to that employee and their patrons. I saw several patrons leave because the service was so slow. We ordered two things and the response was that they were out; we were there 2 hours after they opened. I don’t do rating but this really deserves to be known. The only saving grace was the sole employee. Through her on determination she was able to serve those of us who waited for a good breakfast. This woman ought to be given a raise.
Not worth it. We ate here a while back when they were still a little new. The place has a very cute eccentric decor where new meets antique. They have that going for them. Their food (beignets & sandwich) was good the 1st time around. Service was slow. We were served by an elementary aged kid, which was kinda cute, but also added to their overall unprofessional feel. They’re new. Daughter must be helping mom out while they get started…grace granted. Glad to support a local business.Fast forward to today. There are 2 high-school aged looking girls running the restaurant. 2 total. No adult in site, save for all the tables of people waiting on their food. They’ve switched up the restaurant a bit so it takes us a minute after coming in to notice there’s no longer anyone looking to serve/seat us. We walk up to the counter at the far end of the restaurant & are greeted by a less than pleasant hostess?/server?/cook? We get menus and order at the counter, paying before we get our food…which explains why the people asking about how much longer till they get their coffee haven’t left yet. They are out of white hot chocolate & inform us there is going to be a wait for beignets since the other tables ordered beignets & there is only the girl taking orders & the girl cooking who are running the restaurant. They say 15 min wait for beignets. We also order the chicken pot pie soup. Receipt says Chicken tortilla soup, but it’s not on the menu, so we decide to not mention it. The only table available is dirty so we sit in the tv room, figure the end table will be fine. It’s dirty, too, but doesn’t have dishes left on it. It’s been about 30 mins since we ordered. The cook girl came out about 5 mins ago to ask me what I ordered….The food was decent enough…although the beignets this time were a tad too doughy for me on the inside. Not worth the trouble in the future, tho. So sad. I had hoped they would have it together by now.
This place has character. It’s right near the beach and felt like an old Victorian/southern beach house. The service was great and the staff was very friendly. The food was unique (read the menu and see what I mean) and the food was not very expensive ranging from 1-2 dollar signs $-$$. I would recommend at least trying this place. My meal was 14.00 and that included a bowl of homemade family recipe sea food gumbo, 2 cups of tea (the hot water refill is free), and a tip which I did 25%. The girl running the register was really pretty 😀
