Great service, great food, atmosphere is a leaves a bit to be desired. I highly recommend getting in early, before the lunch crowd starts a line that (usually) wraps around to the door. There’s not a whole lot of room, but the food makes up for it, and then some. Definitely try the roast beef, but I recommend carrying it out and walking just around the corner to the park or even driving the 1/8th mile the beach to eat. If you don’t finish it (which is a feat when you get the large), you can always feed the bread to the seagulls!
Something is Good … …but I didn’t get it. Stopped by for a Monday lunch and tried the special – spaghetti with meat sauce. Nothing distinguished about this – the same thing you could throw together at home – but for $5.50. The sauce, I would guess, is from a can or jar and the meat was just browned hamburger and rather sparse. It came with 3 pieces of also undistinguished bread. But the small dining area was nearly full and many people came by for pick up – so it is appealing to quite a few. May go back for another try.
Awesome. This is a locals’ spot for lunch. Of the ten or so people who were there when I was, probably seven knew each other well. The specials are amazing. I was there for red beans and rice with sausage. Smelled fantastic and it was what everyone was ordering. The only reason I passed was that I knew I couldn’t finish the huge portion and wouldn’t be able to take the leftovers with me. I opted for the roast beef po’boy and Zapp’s chips (of which they have about ten varieties) and was very pleased. Good chopped roast beef, gravy, lettuce tomato pickle mayo. Check it out if you’re anywhere nearby, I’ll definitely come back!
