  Hubby and I had lunch here a few days ago (on a week day). Service was slow because there just wasn’t enough employees for the number of customers in there. The gyoza soup was good but had no vegetables in it (my favorite Japanese place puts vegetables in theirs and it’s so much better). My green tea was not hot enough to brew properly, but the teapot was pretty lol! Hubby had the teriyaki chicken lunch and I tasted the chicken – it was delicious! His meal was good overall from what he said.

  Sakura has been a staple for me and many others in Hattiesburg for years. They have always been consistent and never let me down. You can certainly get cheaper sushi around here, but you get what you pay for. The miso soup is great, the miso salad dressing is wonderful. Both are consistent in my experience.I only ever get sushi and occasionally steamed Gyoza. Sakura is honestly some of the best sushi I have ever had excluding maybe one or two places around the country, but it is still close. I’m no sushi connoisseur, but I do know that Sakura is the place to go for sushi in Hattiesburg.The service is great. Tommy was a wonderful waiter back in the day, and now we have Danny. He is a young Vietnamese guy who came here speaking no English. He supports his family with this waiting job and he is a damn good server, so take good care of him!

  Clean establishment, very friendly service. I sat and drank tea until I realized that I was late for an appointment, had to leave, and they didn’t even charge me for the tea. Upon my return, I had the chicken teriyaki and sushi combo. Boy, what a lot of food! I couldn’t eat everything, but I DID finish the delicious California roll. A full roll, AND the chicken for $8?? What a bargain!
