Seafood Gumbo. Solid, not too spicy, full of fresh seafood. The cup is tiny, get the bowl if you actually want to have it as a meal.

Have no idea how this is rated so well-The waitress was super sweet, the view was nice- but the food was so average and it took literally an hr and a half- it was a never again stop.

Overrated. Proffitt’s Porch is overrated. I go from time to time just to see if I will like it that time. Every time I have gone, I have been less than impressed. The food is not as good as people try to make it out to be. If this place closed, it wouldn’t bother me one bit.

Favorite place!. I’ve been eating at Proffitt’s Porch for years. It’s always been my favorite place for lunch. The CAM is my favorite sandwich, which I usually get with a cup of Red Beans and Rice. Atmosphere is great when the weather is nice and you can sit out on the deck and watch the humming birds. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a bald eagle flying across the lake. Oh, be sure not to miss the Chocolate Chess Pie… I may have to go to Proffitt’s Porch tomorrow. I’ve given myself a craving.

Enjoyable Lunch. Went to Proffitt’s Porch around closing time but they kept the doors open for us. I ordered the Red Beans and Rice. I order this dish whenever I come across it and this was some of the best I’ve eaten. Granted, it isn’t overly spiced up but they have plenty of sauces available to heat it up to your hearts content. I like my RB&R spicy but not flaming and I enjoyed it just the way it was cooked. My wife ordered the French Dip, which she said was one of the best she’s ever had. The meat was tender and tasty. I’m not from Columbus but my newly updated Garmin took us right to the place. If you want a fancy 5 star place, go elsewhere. If you want some good home cooking, in a down to earth place, you should try it. The owners are long time residents and a pleasure to talk with.

Pricey Sandwich Shop. First, the good. The gumbo was great, and the ruben I had was very yummy, just the right seasonings and a good portion. HOWEVER, the seafood salad had imitation crab, and at the prices we were charged (two people, no desert, close to 40 dollars) you would think that the food would be at least the real thing. The shrimp was the frozen salad variety, (or thats what it tasted like) so for the price and quality?………I won’t be going back.. We had two half sandwiches, a cup of gumbo, half a seafood salad, and two drinks.
