Never been there before, old or new location. Went Friday night for dinner. It was cold, snowing and we were not disappointed. I had the special, fried fish over angle hair pasta with crawfish sauce. It was absolutely beautiful, delicious and ample. Someone else had the fried oysters platter (a full dozen) and man, they were big, plump, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Even the salads were excellent and served on cold patters. Service was top-notch. Wish we had had room for key lime pie. On the way out we spied a tempting T-bone sizzling away on the wood grill…next time. We returned into the cold winds fortified and happy. Going back ASAP!

TITLE THIS SATURDAY EVENING AT CPT sALtS. My wife and I have been residents of Gulfport for some time and decided to try this restaurant. We had noticed large numbers of cars in the parking lot and were wondering what we were missing. We visited the restaurant early Saturday evening. After entering the restaurant, we noticed a very cold draft blowing directly on us. Thinking this was unusual, we switched seats but soon realized that the restaurant was freezing. We complained, as did several of the folks sitting near us, but nothing was done to make the place more comfortable. People were literally buttoning up overcoats (It was cold outside.) to protect themselves from the arctic environment. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and noticed that these items were extremely salty. Figuring this was not completely unexpected for this type dish, we waited to see what the main courses tasted like before pondering an opinion on food quality. I ordered fried catfish. My wife ordered fried shrimp. Admittedly these were not the healthiest choices, but we only eat this type food once every few months. My wifes shrimp were excessively salty, but not to an extreme. My catfish, on the other hand, was so salty it reminded me of a salt block on a cattle ranch. I literally could not eat the fish. It was awful. I am hoping that Capt. Al is not salting his food to increase drink sales, an old restaurant trick that I find counterproductive to my repeat visits. As a result of the frigid internal restaurant temperature and the saline food conditions, I have no plans to return to this place. I cant figure what is attracting big crowds. Perhaps it is the extended happy hour. If I wanted a cheap bar, I would have gone to one. I would not have ruined my Saturday dining experience by wasting my time and money at Cpt. Als.

Went August 10, 2017. They seriously need to get their air conditioning fixed! The steak was good, the crab salad was not. The fried shrimp were greasy, the sauted shrimp were nasty. They ran out of baked potatoes, the stuffed ones looked (and tasted) like they were stuffed in their old location. We didn’t say anything, just got go boxes for the shrimp and stuffed potato, came home and threw them in the garbage. We have been going there for over ten years and will never return again and have advised family and friends to do the same.
