Stopped here for lunch while visiting Gulfport and really enjoyed it! The menu was wonderful, we hope to be back in the area again to try something else.. Our server was friendly and attentive- he brought drink refills before we even asked. Thanks for a great meal ElAgave!

Food was good. Pricing not as inexpensive as most Mexican. Maybe it was a bad night but the service was terrible.
I love it!. This is my favorite mexican restaurant! Mercedes has been around for a long time, El Maguey was our favorite restaurant to eat in as a family when I was growing up. Hurricane Katrina took that away, and years pass by…and then SURPRISE! I was so happy to know he was back. He works so hard. ALL of the food is good…This is the only mexican restaurant that doesn’t give my fiancee heartburn. It’s honestly pretty weird.To be fair…if I have to have a downside to my review, the service can be a little slow sometimes, but definitely worth complaining about, they get busy in there. If you want HOT you’ve got to ask for it. The queso dip is amazing…the fajitas and the chile rellenos…and really, can you beat a .99 cent margarita? No. You can’t.

TOTALLY TEX-MEX! I’ve seen rave reviews about the good and terrible reviews about the service. I found both to be quite enjoyable. We were there for lunch and they had quite a selection with VERY reasonable prices. I enjoyed the diablo shrimp with the infierno sauce ( not very spicy, but couldn’t resist when the warning stated do not eat if you hAve cardiac or respiratory problems!) my boyfriend enjoyed a fajita salad. Prior to the entrees, we ordered the guacamole dip which for $3 received a very large portion! I would totally recommend this restaraunt, at least for lunch, to anyone that enjoys a flavor filled texmex meal!
I have been here three times now and every time I’m very disappointed. The food is in my opinion below average for a Mexican restaurant. There are so many other Mexican restaurants around that are so much better. The service is horrible they seem to forget about you a lot. Good luck getting drinks refilled. I had steak fajita quesadillas. Where’s the Beef, Cheese and anything else for that matter!!!! I had family in town with me and they all wished we had gone somewhere else.
