We eat there regularly, clean, good food good service. Taco’s ala carte with el pastor, cilantro and onions salsa verde on the side. Mexican style, double the corn tortillas, squeeze the lime on them, salsa verde and cold Tecate. Like being in old Mexico.
I will not be returning. The smell of the bathrooms linger throughout the entire restaurant. I ordered the 17 oz margarita on the rocks which had little to no tequila, and it was not cold. I also ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, which is there Monday special, and the steak was so gristly it was not edible. The cheese dip is also not worth purchasing because it taste store bought and is very bland. On the positive side the service was good, and I liked their chips and salsa.
If you like cold food this is the place. Visited the new restaurant in Pass Christian. Got the Burrito and it was cold. The person at the next table also complained.
Had Higher Hopes. I had been having a bad hankering for some Mexican food lately, but not a hankering for bad Mexican food. Very nice looking place, and a friendly and fully capable waiter who took excellent care of us. But the food itself simply wasn’t very good. Although my taco was OK, the burrito and enchilada with the meal were just terrible. First of all, when they came to the table they were covered in a cheese sauce that seemed to be a mix between American and Velveeta . . . a canned nacho sauce would have been better. The enchilada was a meat-filled, but uncooked corn tortilla. You could just taste the rawness of the tortilla, as if it had maybe been steamed, but not cooked. The burrito was better, except for the covering of the nasty cheese sauce. My wife couldn’t eat her meal, and she rarely sends food back, but the waiter promptly brought her a taco salad, but even that wasn’t good. The bottom of the salad shell held a pool of what was probably the ‘juice’ of the taco meat, which was barely warm. Needless to say, she didn’t eat much of it either. It would seem easy enough to correct these problems and deliver a decent meal, but I’m not sure if the management realizes how bad their product is . . . sorry, but I’m not willing to give them another shot . . .there are too many other decent Mexican restaurants in town to get a much better meal . . . sorry, I was hoping for so much more.

Good Grill. Had the shredded beef chimichanga. The chimichanga was good, while I couldn’t detect any distinctive seasoning, the shredded beefy had a good salty, beefy flavor. It was covered with cheese sauce. It was crispy in parts, but mostly just firmly grilled. The accompanying rice and beans were OK, but were at room temperature when served. Good portions and at a good price. My wife had the chicken burrito – it was huge and we had to take half home. Service was extremely attentive and prompt, but they were not very busy. Chips and salsa were just OK. Margaritas a bit on the strong side.Didn’t knock my socks off, but was good nonetheless.
Great new place. Jalapeno Grill is a great new Mexican place, with a large menu, polite and very neat staff. I talked to the owner and he seems determined to off the best Mexican food on the Coast. Try the huge taco salad, stuffed avocado or flautas. But everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked good. Give this place a try!
