NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. I grew up in Gulfport and always loved Lil Rays Po Boys. The wife and I decided to get two shrimp po boys for lunch today because we have not eaten there in a long time because the prices of the po boys had increased and the sizes had decreased. But today, we said, lets give them another chance.Horrible!! Stale bread, very few shrimp, and a very small po boy. After tearing away the stale bread, there was not much to eat. I paid $22.00 for the honor of trying to eat this excuse for a po boy. Lil Rays, please do some changes so we can enjoy your food like we did in the past.
Overly priced for small portions!!!! I have been craving a shrimp po boy for days, I finally went to Lil Rays to satisfy my craving. Well should I say I ate a snack instead of a meal!!! They gave me a small po boy with 10 shrimp and charged me $11.00 + tax for this tease. Never in my life will I pay that much for a snack from here again. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED SNACKS!!!!
Not my fathers Lil Rays. I was looking for a little blast from the past, but it seems the past always seems better. I ordered the Roast Beef PoBoy and expected the messy gravy filled panacea I loved for decades at the Waveland location, but alas, NOT. What happened to my Ray’s thick gravy? This was practically au jus. Size? It matters as finishing one of Rays masterpieces was nearly impossible, not so now. And as for the Au Jus, not much of it either. What has happened to Rays vision, attention to detail, and dedication to serving up perfection? Sadness abounds…..
Good but real small. I enjoyed the shrimp po-boy, but it was so small, Not worth the price I priced. Saw the price of the drinks and did not order one.
Glad i found this little restaurant! LOVED the gumbo and upon recommendation from the bartender/waitress, my shrimp were perfect. My buddy said his shrimp po’ boy was absolutely delicious. Wait staff were very courteous despite the dinner rush. And despite the rush, food was fast – but that doesn’t matter when you have delicious lazy magnolia beer to drink, does it?
Excellent! Skip the tourist places on the beach and hit this local spot just west of Gulfport. The royal reds were cooked to perfection and crawfish were hot. Grilled grouper po boy also awesome. Wait staff the best we experienced on the gulf coast.
I got the seafood platter with 6 fried shrimp 1 crab cake and 2 pieces of fried catfish. It was good but for $15 I thought the portion size should have been a little better. Go slow on the soft drinks if you choose to get one…$2 a piece!!
