I have gone to this establishment for over a year and a half since we moved here, At first things were really great and we had good experiences. My daughter and I were approved by the city counsel to paint at Fishbone Alley. The restaurant has an entrance from the alley and an outdoor eating area. We have been working on a large piece of art over a 3 week period and would eat there around 3 times a week. The first week we ordered and were brought our food. It was fine but we asked for drinks and they did not come until the end of the meal. Our waitress was pulled to work behind the bar, so we were pretty much ignored by 2 other waitstaff. After waiting for a very long time I cleaned up our table and wrote a note on 3 napkins stating what we had ordered and letting them know that we were directing people to their establishment . I also left my name, phone number and let them know we would be in the alley when they had time to take our money. They did come out a little while later and we paid and left a nice tip. We went back last night and I had my 80 y/o parents with me…the place was packed and we asked for 1 check for a party of 4. They brought 2 checks. I paid what I thought was the correct amount and left a nice tip. I went back out to the alley and began painting. The shift manager came out and confronted us and said we shorted them on the bill. I apologized profusely and paid the difference along with a generous tip. He then proceeded to tell me I was to never step foot in their establishment again. I told him I would write a check and they could cash it and it would be a running tab for us because it is so hot in the alley and we needed something to drink. He refused and told us never to come back again. He was very rude and ugly to us. Then he told us he would call the police. I told him to go right ahead since I was always honest regarding all my dealings with him. When I arrived home I called the Gulfport Police Department to let them know. They had been patrolling on us since we have started painting down there and have been nothing but supportive and kind to us. They thought this whole fiasco was ridiculous and told me to do myself and my daughter a favor, stay away from a place like that. I am heeding their advice. These people are neither nice nor understanding. Most important…..They do NOT support local artist!
