food was excellent. Fresh, hot, definitely local seafood. Fast efficient service. Looks like the locals go here. It was busy. Casual, fun, relaxed atmosphere. We had a shrimp poboy, gumbo, red beans and rice, fried oysters and fried shrimp. Wee want to go back again asap!
I’ve been here a few times for lunch. Today was yet another enjoyable experience. Exceptional service was provided by the dazzling Starr. The fried clams remind me of home (RI) & both they & the shrimp were fried to perfection.
Good portion of crispy strips – good taste but nothing outstanding. I felt some bordered on the catfish nugget area more than real strips. The fries were more soggy than crisp.
I have eaten at the Shrimp Basket several times and most of the time the food has been quite good and reasonably priced. That said on more than one occasion I have had to send a dish back. They have always made it right and I will continue to dine there.
Me and the hubby and out 4 kiddos ate here and EVERYTHING was delicious! Best catfish (crispy outside and flaky inside). Shrimp poboy was great and the buttery bread it was served on made it even better! Got some cheese sticks and fried crab claws for appetizers and we demolished it all!!! We will be back. Also… Service was marvelous and friendly 🙂
I liked it. Stopped here Saturday lunchtime. Had a lime daiquiri, cup of gumbo and a dozen oysters on the half shell. Everything was good, the oysters were good sized and pretty luscious. Gumbo was OK, needed salt and I added Louisiana hot sauce; it hit the spot. Bartender (Marissa) was very friendly, welcoming and prompt, no issues with service. I would recommend it, fairly typical gulf coast seafood shack type place, nothing fancy.
Michelle C. (Gulfport location of Shrimp Basket). Michelle (Gulfport) was our server 2 nights in a row, & we enjoyed her cheerful attitude & hustle. Good hot food & quick service brought us back for more!! With hundreds of restaurants to choose from during our visit for Cruising The Coast, we’re very glad we stumbled across this little place, & Michelle was a real bonus!
