Best catfish aound. Have not been there since before Katrina, but I have moved to Hattiesburg recently and plan a trip soon. I have never tasted cole slaw that good,even my mothers. I remember it from late 70’s i think. Back then they had about 6 picnic tables. You made new friends as more than one party used each table. The menu then was catfish,whole only, hush puppies, cole slaw, french fries and great iced teas. They soon added fillets . Later they added a few other things, but I never ate anything but catfish. Service was always good because they were mostly members of Jerry’s family. Well worth the ride.
A Long Way to Go. Out of the way far down Rte. 53, it is a pleasant enough place. Whole catfish was a treat as opposed to just the filets that other places provide. I would place it in the middle of the pack as far as taste goes. Nice variety on the menu. Prices were OK, but not particularily inexpensive. Service was a bit sluggish, and because it was so crowded rather noisy too. Doubtful that I’ll return given the distance from Gulfport.

Best ever. Best fish and coleslaw i have ever had…and the fries and hushpuppies are pretty good, too. wife and 2 kids ate for around $30…that’s a pretty good deal. mrthhar must have gone in on a bad night because the food and service are usually excellent when i go. don’t listen to mrthhar…go to shaw’s.
Bill. Very family, they do have a menu. The specialty is all you acn eat catfish either whole or filets.You also get fries and hushpuppys and all the tea you can drink. Good food and not a lot of money. Two can eat for about $27.00. Great Place
Earlier Review Correction. Did not mean to say filets because they were not filets. Just little pcs of fish.28 Mar, 2010Overpriced and Poor Service. Visited Shaw’s this evening and had to wait a good while before we got out food. Then, the waitress placed a pitcher of tea, one very small basket of fries with THREE hushpuppies in it, one bowl of slaw and one small plate of filets for us to share. We ate the filets and had to wait, and wait before a waitress came by to ask for more fish. Our bill was $28.00. Won’t be making that long drive again.
