Friday night catfish, or rumors of catfish…have to wait until they bring out the next 6 pieces to the many camping out waiting for it. Then the quality…has the taste, appearance and texture of over fried prefab/battered frozen fish of some type, probably Swai, because there was a big gap between the crunchy too thick batter shell and the shrunken meat inside. You know what I’m talking about, more shell than fish. Not very appetizing at all. If you can’t have good catfish in MS something is seriously amiss.
True Southern Food. If you want to eat food that taste like Grandmas’s, then go to Movie Star. I haven’t found a place that serves better fried chicken or vegetables. I used to eat only my grandma’s turnip greens, but I go back for seconds at Movie Star. I haven’t had one thing on the buffet that I haven’t liked. I adore the potatoes and gravy. When I do have room for dessert, the banana pudding is wonderful. If you don’t have room, you can grab an ice cream to take with you and enjoy later. The staff has always been super friendly. They also have punch cards that you use and after a certain number of visits, you get a free buffet. Movie Star is definitely one of mine and my husband’s favorite places to eat. A true Southern gem!

AMAZING. Everything is this restuarant is amazing! Anything you try will be delicious! It is such a well ran place the owners are very involved and will come to your table and talk to you and make sure everything is great! if you take the time to ask your server for the back story of how it got started you will not be disappointed a family ran business with the owners working and their children there with them too such a well ran and staffed place! My whole family loves it and you can’t go wrong! They have won best buffet voted on by The Best of the Pine Belt numerous times and best comfort food for mashed potatoes (made from scratch I might add), fried chicken which is to die for, and mac and cheese! They have the best steak you will ever eat (it is so juicy and so tender my mouth is just watering thinking about it) that beats any steak house you go to and their brisket is amazing! Everything is delicious! they even cater too which is awesome! I do not see why there are bad reviews about this place and how people can not help but to love it! They must not know good food when they try it because i have never been disappointed when i have gone. and everyone i talk to about it has NOTHING bad to say about it! i give this place 5 stars and my personal recommendation! you will not be disappointed!
So-so. For me, this place is a hit or miss. The food isn’t bad, mostly, it just isn’t that great. There isn’t a lot of variety, either. The desserts are almost never good. I’ll eat here every now and then, but it isn’t a preferred choice.And the signs and old-timey memorabilia are nice, but it’s a bit busy. There are a bit too many signs on the wall. But it’s nice to look at the things they have in the glass cases by the cash register. They’re very interesting.
For vegetarians this place was great! So many choices and varieties of veggies and the. salad bar was good – loved the corn and black add pea salad and the coleslaw.
I don’t recommend this place the food is just awful it looks like its straight out of cans they just dump out onto the buffet line. Have gone there three times in the last year and each time the service got worse. Last week it was so bad we left after just a few minutes. Please avoid.
