A nice break from the road for lunch!. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. The chopped pork was impregnated with sauce so it was difficult to taste the meat. It reminded me of BBQ from a can. The strawberry shortcake was a pleasant close to lunch.
Passable BBQ, but Nothing Special. The meat is pretty standard for Hattiesburg BBQ. Good enough, but nothing special as far as seasoning, smokey flavor, or sauces go. Sides are alright, but again – not particularly special. They taste like they came from the deli section of a grocery store. The staff is always friendly, though, and their buffet is very fairly priced. It’s certainly a better choice than Golden Corral.
Lunch Buffet. Took in a business lunch at Strick’s today and enjoyed the meal. It was much better than the previous couple of trips and if what I had today is the norm then it’s back up to the standard that it was when I was in college. Sampled the smoked ribs and smoked chicken and both were nice. They have three different sauces and one will likely suit your taste. I also had a couple of their home style sides including baby lima beans and green beans and enjoyed both.
BARF! BBQ tasted like someone dumped a pork roast in a pot of ketchup and cooked it til it was dry and shredded it into bits ..ive seen better bbq come out of a bucket in the frozen section of a grocery store. Fries were disgusting. Obviously the cheapest frozen variety they could find. They dont give good service either. If youve never been there youll he lost from where to go when you walk in to what locals order vs whats on thier chalk board…which doesnt mention a buffet by the way…then the disgusting sauces you have to find tucked away in a corner out of a tea pot. All tasted nasty…worst restaurant experience in a long time..I will not go back…beware! !
Smoked turkey-strawberry cake. I’m a frequent customer of Strick’s — and you have to try the smoked turkey –it is great to make sanniches and chopped for a green salad you will be so pleased on a hot day so definitely have some in the fridge for these days that are too hot to cook or even eat something that is hot. You’ll never purchase smoked turkey at any grocery store or deli and remember — the turkey breast doesn’t have any ‘addidtives’ in it — just turkey into the smoker and you can take it from there. And their smoked chicken — yummmm it has to be Strick’s (Share a piece of their Strawberry Shortcake while strawberries are in season; Pecan Pie (for b-fast with scrambled eggs!!) Haven’t tried the German Chocolate or other desserts but probably if you’re a german chocolate cake person I won’t eat red velvet cake because of the red food coloring — their white frosting is truly the most amazing–haven’t tried bread pudding, or banana pudding-not my thing — for sides, I’m cold slaw, tater salad, baked beans, they’ve let me have limas from the buffett when I’ve asked. I skip fries -my own are the best from raw potatoes soaked overnight in white vinegar and water
Texas BBQ. In Texas,we like to think that we know what we are doing when it comes to BBQ. I will be visitng Strick’s BBQ very soon, so I will be giving my opinion of how they stack up. I already know that a lot of customers there really like it and that is a good indicator! We’ll be talkin’ to ya!
Strick’s BBq is just great and if you don’t like it there is something wrong with you! i love the pork ribs and if you love crawfish man they got some there that’ll keep you busy!
