The food here is good, as well as the service. But almost $17 for a pulled pork plate and a water?? I can get as good barbeque for quite a bit less at a lot of places. I would expect to feed almost two people for that price.
To order ribs for lunch you have to get a half slab with 2 sides. It costs $21 with a drink for lunch for one person. You’d think they would do a lunch rib dinner with only 3 ribs and a side for like $8.99. Food is good but not worth $20 per person lunch. They need to evaluate their prices.
Ordered pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries and drink for $12. Some would argue a little pricey for lunch. Sandwich was a little better than typical BBQ joints in MS; sauce was very good/unique from thicker BBQ sauces at other places- the slaw on sandwich wasn’t for me however. The fries were amazing and easily the best I’ve had anywhere. They’re practically dessert if you add the sweet BBQ sauce to them. Friendly and prompt service.
I have lived practically across the street from The Hickory Pit for six years now and finally got a mega craving for some good BBQ. I read that they were open until 9:00 so at 8:35 I pulled up to there drive-thru window and waited. And waited. And waited. Then I sat there and placed a to-go order online at Outback, and still nobody appeared. As I was pulling out, I saw the reason I was not being helped: The lone employee hanging out on the front patio area couldn’t be bothered to put out his cigarette and take my order. Gee, thanks. I didn’t want my food handled by smelly smoker hands anyway, so I guess it’s just as well that a paying customer was too much of an inconvenience to serve.
The home fries are great! Had the pulled pork plate. I liked the pork a lot. Do not be afraid of the slaw relish, it adds a nice crunchy texture. Only downside is the BBQ options. I didn’t really like any of them. 🙁 I wish the sweet sauce was thicker. All in all, great experience and we can’t wait to go back!
Food was overpriced not worth it. And owner at front counter was not very nice to my daughter. Def will not spend anymore of my money there!!!!!
Pulled pork sandwich. Good pulled pork, love the slaw on top. Steak fries are perfect, BBQ beans are flavorful. Service is friendly and without an attitude(a rare find in the Jackson).
