Will not darken nthe doorstep of this palce again.. Our server and the gumbo were the only good things about this dinner. After watching MANY meals come out for customers who arrived after my table, we finally got our food and hour and a half after ordering. (My table was not the only one this happened to.) My wife’s steak was undercooked so we sent it back and it came back burned crispy on one side. Overall the food was mediocre and mitchen service dismal. I will never return.

Worst experience EVER!!. Worst experience in a restaurant ever. Had a 6:00 reservation, but still hadn’t been served by 8:00. Several customers around us also became extremely agitated due to the long wait. One lady followed the waitress into the kitchen and personally told the chef she and her husband wanted their food now. The frustration grew when the waitress proceeded to bring food to customers whom arrived after my party and I did. I ate at Monte’s once before when located in the Quarters on Lakeland Drive, and it was a great experience. However, after tonight, I find it hard to believe that I will ever dine there again. We ended up leaving without eating knowing the difficulty we would have finding another restaurant that wasn’t already packed. What should have been a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner turned into a disastrous evening. Just an absolute awful dining experience at Monte’s! Your reputation took a major hit with some customers tonight. May not mean much to you because we are just a selective few, but the damage is still done nonetheless.

Reviews. Doesn’t Chef Monte read these reviews? Does anyone on here think so? Has anyone ever contacted anyone on here about the reviews? Thanks!13 Oct, 2014Not like New Orleans Seafood!. I am home grown New Orleans! We were so excited when we heard Monte’s was moving to Byram and so very disappointed when we ate there 10/11/2014. We were looking forward to good Louisiana seafood and that New Orleans’s bread pudding they advertise. We also had visitors so this was a special occasion. The outside of the restaurant looked ok. The inside was not what we expected. There is white paper over the tables and our glasses were dirty. The waitress did replace them as we pointed out the dirt. We ordered the crab cake for an appetizer. It was so soggy! Two of us ordered the fried soft shell crab entree. The crabs were extremely small and the batter had some unusual flavor, not like any we have ever had. The lettuce salads were floating in dressing! We couldn’t finish eating them because of the dressing! We all ordered loaded baked potatoes with them and received pasta. The waitress did correct her mistake and bring the potatoes which had a hunk of cheese in the middle not even melted. The ice tea was ok. Then came dessert. We ordered the so called famous New Orleans bread pudding. It was terrible! It actually tasted like crab boil was added to it. I couldn’t even eat it, the worse taste ever. Monte needs to go try the bread pudding at Pascal Manles. We didn’t complain because we had visitors but trust me. Really awful! The waitress leaves someting to be desired. We asked her a couple questios about the choices on the menu and she looked baffled. We have eaten at the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans. Monte’s doesn’t even come close to Copeland’s, Pascal Manales, Mindendorfs, Landry’s and so many more. The list could go on and on!

Fresh food cooked to order. Their kitchen may take a little longer than the big corporate restaurants, but the food quality way surpasses the chains. It’s a mom and pop run place so sit back and take your time and enjoy yourself. Monte has come out to thank us every time we’ve been there. As for the others that commented on the Mother’s Day issues. They should do like us and take mom out a cpl days before. I’m still amazed people will make their mom sit on a two hour wait at the chains to eat processed food.

This is the first time I have ever felt strongly enough about a restaurant to give a review, and I’m sorry to say it is not a good one. I had the seafood bisque as an appetizer. I felt like I was eating chicken broth with a few crawfish added. For my main meal I ordered the stuffed catfish dish. Whatever the stuffing part was tasted like it came out of a box. It had a few crawfish and salad shrimp sprinkled on top. I couldn’t even suffer through eating it. No on apologized for it. Nothing. Thank goodness for the butter and crackers or I would have gone home hungry.

Horrible!!!! Took forever for the food to come out and it horrible. Seafood platter was so greasy i could not even eat it. I spent $32.05 for one skimpy platter. I didn’t even order a drink. Wes was our server and he was good. Oh and one of the kids ordered a chicken tender platter and her chicken was half done!!!

Took my husband to Montes for his birthday.. The service was great and the food was even better. The ambiance reminded me of places you would find in Louisiana. So many choices on the menu. I had the stuffed shrimp and the hubby had the stuffed catfish. We also had the crab cakes and gumbo to start. I would highly recommend Montes if you love seafood and like flavor and a bit of kick to your food!! #Creole#Louisiana!!
