I’ve never had a bad experience here. The catfish has always been consistently good, the service good, and the chocolate cobbler incredible.
Good blackened catfish though I have had better. If you like going to out the way eatin’ places this is a good place to go. Don’t forget to the sign the walls before you leave.
Rehearsal dinner. After reviewing many places in Oxford, we decided to give the rehearsal dinner at Taylor Grocery. Sarah showed us two rooms available, and we chose the one with the front porch as we had between 40-50 ppl. We decorated around 3:00 pm, brought in our beer and wine and the place was ready when we came from the rehearsal. We couldn’t have been more pleased. The service was wonderful, the food was excellent. We had several ppl come in late from Memphis and they were served asap. We all had a wonderful, relaxing time. I was very pleased.
I don’t get the appeal. The wait is outrageous. There is NOTHING charming about sitting in a gravel parking lot for 2 hours while people drink out of their cars and get rip-roaring drunk. Once inside, food is mediocre and overpriced. Sausage and cheese plate? Cut up hunks of sausage and cubed cheddar cheese on a paper plate. No thanks.
No Stars !!!. I don’t usually write reviews and read them with a gran of salt. I hope you take the time to read this. First this place is nasty. If you approach from the east side of the building, you are greeted with the smell of raw sewage that is stifling. Be glad there is no door knob on the restroom door, I’m sure it WAS something you wouldn’t want to touch and the round hole in the door is a nice no- touch! With the filth over looked, we waited the hour to get a table. As we were seated we were told in a very rude manner that we were to eat and leave as other people were waiting. Let me keep it short by saying it went downhill from there. I have never been treated with such rudeness, these owners & staff are obviously in the wrong business.On their behalf, I can’t say the food was bad……or good. We left without eating after such harsh treatment. I may add, I drove over an hour and waited in line for another hour. Hey folks, there is good catfish all over the south served with a smile! Don’t waste your time on this dive!!
