Crab swiss on Rye. Crab swiss on rye has been one of my coast favorites for many years now (even when they were in the old location, before Katrina)! The gumbo is good, too.
I have only had their breakfast and it is great!!! We eat there every time we are in town.
I had the reuben sandwich about three minutes ago. two very thin slices of what seemed like corned beef lunch meat on little pieces of bread. Basic thousand island dressing a bit of canned kraut.
Seafood not freshly prepared (frozen). My shrimp and oyster poyboy was terrible. Probably not going to eat here again.
Breakfast. I would recommend Rusty Pelican for breakfast. I have eaten here since the days when they were located on Hwy 90 in Pass Christian. It is also decent for lunch but for dinner I would attend other restaurants along the MS Gulf Coast. My favorite luch item is the Crab Swiss Po Boy or The Pelican. You cannot go wrong with either of those choices. The breakfast is very good everything is cooked to order and always hot and fresh from the grill.
Not really rusty. We eat here quite often because of its proximity to the Long Beach Baseball Complex. Our often large parties have always enjoyed the food. Our special favorites are the crab po-boys and the crab cakes. Nice seasoning plentiful crab meat, and we have never crunched into a bit of shell. Service is prompt. Prices reasonable.

The Rusty Pelican was the first restaurant my father took me to when my husband and I came to visit my parents while they vacationed in Mississippi. This was about 12 years ago and we ate there ever year after until my father got sick in 2003. I never new that would be the last time I would eat at the Rusty Pelican with my father. The Bread pudding is one of my favorite items on the menu. I had never eaten bread pudding before that and now I can’t find any bread pudding that can compare to it…
