BBQ TORTURE. Worst bbq i have ever had. The chubby guy was not helpful at all but the tall slender fellow gave better service to even it out. We ordered the rib platter, garbage onions. The ribs had no flavor but were tender. No smoke flavor and the worst bbq sauce ever. I It Has the consistency of wet mud. I need to open up a bbq joint if people are buying that, theyll love some real down south bbq.
Not bad!. I was incredibly excited to try some BBQ in Madison. After my previous experience with Hong Kong Buffet, I was anxious for something good! The young man who took my order was very nice, but he didn’t know a lot about Tay’s side dishes. For instance, I always ask about the sides – if the cold slaw is vinegar-based or mayonnaisy, if the potato salad is made with sweet relish or is it sour cream based, etc. He couldn’t tell me a whole lot and didn’t offer a little sample as other places have.I ordered the Chicken Plate with the cole slaw and the macaroni and cheese. The chicken was perfectly smoked, tender, juicy, flavorful! The sides – not so much! A BBQ place should pour as much heart into its sides as it does its meat, in my opinion! The slaw was a little on the dry side and peppery, and the mac and cheese lacked any kind of creaminess one associates with good mac and cheese – I thought it was older!I would definitely come back and try the pulled pork, the sausage, and the ribs. Hopefully the potato salad and baked beans will be better!
Good not Great. I tried this place at the advice of my supervisor. I was craving bbq. I order the ribs (6) and sausage (1). Ticket total was around $18.00. That is expensive to me. Service was not stellar. There was a very tall guy who took my order and I had questions about the menu because I had never eaten there before. He looked annoyed with my questions. The baked beans need a little work. They are good but not the best I have had and the serving size of beans is not worth the price. The potato salad was heavy on the mayo. The ribs were seasoned well. The smoked taste is awesome. But the ribs were a little tough and overcooked and not very hot. The sauce is not good at all. Needs work. The restaurant is very clean and the decor is nice. The autographed jerseys’ on the wall kept my attention as I waited for my meal to be prepared to go.
Very avg food. It was edible, but not what I had hoped for in Mississippi barbecue. I got the pork plate. Meat was dry, sauce was just like a tomato sauce with no vibe to it. Only offered one kind of sauce. Beans and Mac and cheese where avg. filled me up and it was hot is about all I can say for it.
Delicious BBQ. I visit Tay’s often and always receive excellent service. Everything on the menu is very tasty, but my favorite are the ribs and the yellow fin tuna dip. The prices are reasonable. They have the best catering service, too! Thanks Tay’s for ALL your great service!
If you like Microwaved BBQ!!!. I went in to order Brisket and the young high school girl asked me if I wanted it hot or cold??? I said hot obviously! I watched her go to a cooler and grab a handful of brisket and placed it in the microwave and put it on like one minute. I asked her if she had any fresh and she looked at me like I was crazy! I told her to forget it and left. Couple times before I went in there and ordered three plates to go it cost me $40!! Worst BBQ I have ever put in my mouth besides KJ’s in Pochahontas!! We need a good BBQ restaurant in Madison!!!
Barf B Que. I have always said I have never had awful bbq or tater salad. Just some were better than others. I have now!I ordered the pulled pork sandwich platter with tater salad and baked beans. Figure that would be pretty safe and is usually the measuring stick for BBQ establishments. My coworker got the ribs.First, my coworker. His ribs were about as dry as the fingers of an Egyptian mummy. He asked for sauce and the employee squirted some into a cup. Is that satisfactory? Heck NO!As for myself. My sandwich was terribly bland. i could taste no smoke flavor at all. My baked beans appeared to be straight from a can. Again no smoke flavor and even not a hint of BBQ taste. The tater salad was pretty much boiled potatoes cut up and slightly crushed. Thats it! No seasoning, not even salt or pepper. Ridiculous! I took it back and exchanged it for their Mac n Cheese. That turned out to be a pinch better….than Kraft from a box! Even the pickle could not escape the disaster. It was the cousin of a green dog turd.I dont think one could die eating this trash, but you will wish you did. If there is a positive review about this joint, they must have eaten there long ago or they are due for a mental evaluation.
