Best Catfish ever!. I went with my dad here tonight and loved it. The party I was in had about 50 people and the staff was wonderful along with the food. I’m not a fish person, but the catfish was the best thing ever. I live about 45 minutes away and I will definitely be making that drive more often just to eat here.
Great catfish and shrimp. Fabulous
My review keeps disappearing – Won’t return. The last time my family and I ate here the portions were very small, the hush puppies have hot peppers in the mix so for people like me who can’t eat very hot stuff have to just stare at them on the plate. The biscuits were dry and crumbled in my plate. The chicken I had was dry. I paid over $60.00 for this meal and both kids walked out still hungry and I not very pleased with how the food turned out. I don’t intend to go there any more.
Good Fried Food.. I ended up here because the crowd wanted to go (Uspoon reviews had dissuaded me otherwise),The southern style biscuits were not exactly hot out of the oven, and as they were cold, I prefer the pre-made bIscuits I get at the bakery department at Rouses (pretty good when heated). The cold slaw was too mayo-ee for me.The fried catfish and fried shrimp were very very good — a light cornmeal crust on the fish and a different light batter on the shrimp. BTW, the shrimp were not overcooked, so they were still soft and fresh — so an A+ for that. The choice of a baked sweet potato (instead of fries) was good and appreciated. The best thing about the place: A shrimp/fish combo costs about 12.95, and in the middle of the meal, if you want more, you can add two bucks to convert it into all-you-can-eat. (not if you were sharing). The server graciously put up with a group of 8 with about 5 split checks.
Is their deep fryer broken?. We used to go here every time we were in Ocean Springs, but no more. What used to be a crowded, busy restaurant is now a ghost town. The past 3 times we have been, the meal has been lousy. Cold, doughy frozen biscuits, bland coleslaw, and extremely greasy food tops the menu.We had the shrimp dinners with fried dill pickle slices for an appetizer. Everything arrived in a depressing pool of oil, and very soggy.. The only reason for this is that their deep fryer is not reaching maximum temperature. Things fried in cold oil yields nasty, greasy food-and that is what will get here and will stop us from going back.We are so disappointed in this place-but rest assured, there are other great places to eat on the Gulf Coast. It is very sad to see a former glorious restaurant descend to this mediocrity.Aunt Jenny-what happened to you?
Excellent!. Service was absolutely wonderful, food was great, and the view was beautiful! Ordered and had our food within 10 minutes. Definitely a place to revisit.
Don’t waste your money!!! No salad selection from menu except the mayo loaded coleslaw. Everything is fried except the creole selections (shrimp or catfish) or the broiled catfish. The shrimp creole has popcorn size shrimp that tasted like pieces of white rubber. The creole sauce was not too spicy but had about a pound of sugar. The catfish filets were very small and no one at our table was impressed. All the vegetable selections were fried! I would give them 2 stars for the view. Go have a drink or desert then leave.
