Great home cooking. People are friendly. Family friendly atmosphere. Prices are respectable. Love the fried Chicken Dinner and hush puppies. Live in Nashville and when I come to MS to visit my grand baby, I always make a point to stop by there.before I head back.
Good plate lunch. Had pork cutlet and gravy with green beans, cabbage and hush puppies. Will definitely be back.
Sweetpea’s is home style for sure… Don’t go looking for fancy. Fried green tomatoes were good. Enjoyed the fried chicken salad, fried chicken, chicken strips and grilled shrimp. Tastes were good but there is not much attention given to presentation. Ps.the women’s bathroom was not clean, the sink was loose and the toilet wouldn’t flush. Hopefully that was just a bad day and not the normal.
Fried Catfish Filet. The catfish was moist and the batter was perfect. I ordered 3 filets and finished them – barely. Two would have been plenty, but could not have been any better. Linda was stuffed after 2. P. S. Ask for Cheryl.
Greasy. Horrible and greasy… Don’t bother!
Great southern food. Have been looking forward to trying this place. Joined some friends here for dinner tonight. I ordered the Seafood Platter: two fried catfish filets and 6 fried jumbo shrimp w/ homemade hushpuppies, a side of cream corn and a side of green beans. The catfish, shrimp and hushpuppies were some of the best I’ve ever eaten. My only complaint: the food was served warm, not hot like I prefer. But that’s ok. I took the sides and some hushpuppies home. My friends were pleased with their meals as well: chicken fried steak and fried catfish filets. Our server was very friendly. The staff make you feel right at home. It’s obvious Sweetpea’s Table is popular. It was packed. And it’s definitely better than Cracker Barrel. I will return for more good home cookin’.
My husband and I found it on the way to our hotel. Glad we saw it. We ate there 3 times in our week long visit. Took my former boss and my family. It was fantastic every time. We had chicken fried steak with choice of brown or white gravy- yummy, all of the vegetables were so good, we tried every pie- our waiter was convinced we would love all of them or we would not have to pay- they were delicious and everything homemade! I look forward to going back. Family and boss loved it too!
