This place is heaven on earth. You can order anything on the menu and have the best southern cooking of your life. I hate Meatloaf, but I could eat it here everyday. Best meal is country fried steak, no doubt. Get a John Daly for your drink every time best in Oxford MS- could have more booze in it.
Excellence in soul food. The Big Easy is a no-brainer. First timers MUST get it. Branching out from there I recommend the meatloaf, turkey and dressing, mac n cheese, shoot you just can’t go wrong. Good service too! Ajax would be my final meal on death row.
The best restaurant in Oxford Mississippi, No the best restaurant in north Mississippi, no wait the best restaurant in the state of Mississippi. For all the people complaining about the atmosphere, how packed it is or the toothpicks on the roof, y’all can go to hell. This place changes lives. The mac and cheese is better than my moms. I highly recommend the Big easy or the turkey and dressing. Probably the best 2 meals I’ve had in Oxford. The John daily is the best one in town. They are a great way to end a long day, with a big easy. The place is always packed because it’s so great. I LOVE AJAX
This shit will change your life it’s that good. The mac and cheese is very cheesy. I like my Mac and cheese very cheesy. If you have had a long day get a John daly, because it tastes great.
Packed house…but was that because of the food or game day win in town? I think the latter. Food was relatively hit or miss around the table. The catfish on one dish was seasoned well and fried perfectly whereas two others were crisply burned. The shrimp poboy, fries, and mac-cheese were pretty good whereas the dressing, sweet potato casserole and broccoli/rice casserole fell short. Mediocre menu selections, but Ajax will not be amongst my considerations upon returning to Oxford.
Not bad food..this place is always packed..needs some renovations though.. the service was as good as it probably was gonna get, being that I only saw 2 waitresses for a full house.. also I couldn’t tell if it was a bar..or a restaurant..
