I’ve always stated that something special or different must be done to breakfast food to make it above average for me and this place didn’t do it. Don’t get me wrong, the homemade pancakes, sausage and eggs were good but nothing gave it that wow factor other than the size of the full stack (3 huge cakes hanging off the plate). So unless you’re absolutely starving, order the short stack (2) or possibly just a single. Would I come back?…yep! Can’t beat a cheap meal.

The food is pretty good. The service is hit and miss. But there’s always racial tension whenever I go with non white friends. Overall it’s a good place for a cheap burger and onion rings but it can be awkward if you have diverse friends.

Are we in the 21st century?. I read several reviews stating a similar experience to mine. The food was pretty good (hard to mess up grits, biscuits, and gravy in my opinion) and the service was OK, however i sensed a little racial tension with the staff. I am myself a Caucasian male of about 20 years old, but the staff seemed to ignore and even treat the black males around my age differently. I’m just going to come out an say it these people are racist as all get out. Now i myself am fairly critical on the African American culture and lifestyle but these Mississippi folk made me look like the Reverend Jessie Jackson. I don’t even think i ever saw a staff make eye contact with the two black kids sitting next to me, and the whole things was like i had stepped into a time machine and gone back to 1970.

I think the people are rasist. I call in a order durning business hours around 11 today told the Man that took my order i will be there at 12:30 to pick my order up when i get there They forgot all about it so when he gave my money back to me he laid it on the counter didnt hand it to me in my hand just laid it on the counter didnt say he was sorry for forgetting about my order couldnt even look me in my eyes, bad business you will lose business. God is good!

Extremely average. The menu reads like that of a cafeteria… from the 60’s. It is consistent, but consistently mediocre. Never had a bad experience, per se, but never had anything approaching a good one, either.

Oxford Icon. This place has been around as long as I can remember and keeps on putting food on the tables. It’s got great prices and home cookin. Usually pretty busy so be patient!

Same as it ever was….. Which in this case is good. The same good food they served in the early 80s, and the very same booths, pictures, etc. But who cares about that? The meatloaf was amazing. The cornbread: not a lick of grease on my fingers afterwards. Popcorn shrimp? maybe not the freshest of choices, but the onion rings and the oysters – oh yeah.
