The family and I had a very enjoyable lunch here. The atmosphere is good and the food is great. Thy were very busy for lunch but the wait was still very short and the waiter was very polite.

There is absolutely no way to go wrong with anything on the menu. They have a standard menu that is available all the time with burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, salads, chicken livers, and red beans and rice–all of which rival any in town–but the best are the lunch and dinner specials. Both specials menus rotate with items like brisket, salmon croquettes, spaghetti, catfish, hamburger steak, and grilled/fried chicken for lunch; dinner offers great steaks, seafood like mahi mahi or tuna steaks, pork medallions (which are also often on lunch menu), and many other confections you will find nowhere else in town. A list of over a dozen freshly made vegetable sides are always available. The fresh soups are excellent. There is also a full bar with a true neighborhood feel with long-time regulars who will always greet new-comers with a smile and great conversation. Bottom line: Don’t miss a chance to enjoy this Jackson original.
The beef brisket is wonderful! Also is the chicken and dumplings.
Good if you like ole country food. The menu is likely to please fans of good ol country cooking. There’s really nothing I don’t like here,
The fried chicken livers are my favorite but all the plate lunches they offer during the week are good
I love that they ripped out the booths and woodwork from the old place and put them in the new place. Great wait staff. It always seems like family in there.The lunch specials are fantastic. Mrs Davis and I always order lunch at the bar where we catch cnn and some of that family vibe.
