Dale’s was established in 1966 in Southaven, MS. It has a large menu and daily specials. My husband and I ate there on a Wednesday for an early dinner. They were out of one of the daily specials, chicken and dumplings. Dale’s running out of a daily special has happened to me before, but we were disappointed since this was my husband’s first visit there. He was looking forward to chicken and dumplings, having heard good things about it, but since there was none to be had, he ordered fried chicken. The fried chicken was extremelydry and dense; it had obviously had been under a warmer for a while. So much so, that he sent it back and chose another of the available daily specials, the fried pork chop. I also ordered the fried pork chop. It was excellent! Fresh, not greasy, and good. The rolls delivered to our table were cold. The sides were good. Hubs had fried okra which was fresh and hot, and purple hull peas which were very well prepared. I had the mac and cheese and it was very good. The disappointment of being out of a daily special and the very poor fried chicken dampened our dinner. Hopefully, we’ll return and be able to order what we’d like from the menu.
