Rustys is one of the most expensive seafood restaurants in town, and certainly the only place you are going to wait to be seated at 5pm on any given Sat night. So every time we visit, I have to ask my self why?Lunch there is good, and they probably have the best gumbo in town. But just enough time passes between dinner visits for me to forget why I dont go to Rustys very often. Lets start with the appetizer: spinach and artichoke dip. It had too much garlic, too much salt, but worst of all it wasnt hot. Then came the rolls which were certainly pulled from the oven 1-2 mins too early.I was interested in the house special of redfish and crawfish crme sauce, which I had never tried. But the picture on the menu was unappetizing. The sauce looked yellow and thin like hollandaise. So I went for the stuffed grouper, which I have had before. While they cooked the grouper, the coconut shrimp sat under the heat lamp for more than 5 minutes so that it too didnt arrive hot. And after all the waiting for the grouper, it was crispy and close to burned on the bottom. Cost for the luke-warm and over-cooked food: $70.The only positive tonight was the service, which is always good even though they are exceptionally busy.[The best crawfish crme sauce in town is at Klondyke. The best coconut shrimp is at 10 South.]
