Dined here for lunch, while visiting from Oklahoma. The plate lunch with fried chicken, glazed carrots, smothered squash, and red beans & rice. All were fantastic. Service was excellent. I also tasted the sausage and sweet potatoes. Very pleased. I encourage you to try it out.

Good Chicken. We enjoyed our lunch at Walnut Hills. Lovely restaurant, good food reasonable prices. Only area for improvement would be the service. Waiter was slow to refill tea and brought part of the order late.
Walked Out. No food..If it was good, is worth going here. You’ll know why if you choose to experience it.
Apparently the Customer is not always right. Deciding to stop in Vicksburg in our cross country vacation, I had read a excellent review about Walnut HIlls. We were waited on promptly as we were the only patrons in our section. Our drink order was taken and when our waiter returned with drinks, he took our dinner order. At this point several couples had been placed in our section and our waiters emphasis was turned to them, probably because they were buying high dollar wine. Our food was basically thrown on the table. I order the fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes. My first bit was of mashed potatoes and they were cold; as cold as if they had been pulled out of the fridge. I remarked to my husband and when our waiter came back with rolls, I told him that they were cold. He asked for my plate and I asked that he just bring me a small bowl of potatoes. Oh no, no, he was going to have them scraped from the plate and they would be hot. As I suspected, the plate came back scalding hot. The potatoes were hot, but everything else on my plate was so hot that I couldn’t eat it. (This is why I asked for a small bowl of potatoes instead). We asked for more rolls and another soft drink and we got neither. My husband luckily ordered sweet tea and was brought a small pitcher. The food was not impressive; the chicken has little flavor, I can get better from Church’s Chicken. To pay $65 for so-so food and poor service is extremely overpriced.
Outstanding service, great food.. I live in Flowood, MS and I wanted to try something different for dinner on a Thursday night. I decided to try Walnut Hills and made the drive to Vicksburg. Upon arriving, my date and I were promptly seated and decided to try the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. The tomatoes were very good and the craw-fish that was added only made them better. I ordered the fried chicken and she ordered the rib-eye. The chicken was hot, moist and delicious. My date ordered the rib-eye medium well and it was cooked to perfection. I would recommend Walnut Hills to anyone in the area who wanted a great meal with great service.
