A Hidden Gem in Cape Girardeau. We experienced Celebrations for the first time on Valentine’s Day! What a treat from the ambiance, wait staff, owner, and exceptionally prepared food. The food was a medley combination of vegetables, starches and entres each complementing the other so well, cuisine one would only expect in a large metropolitan area. We were in the early seating so we asked if we needed to vacant our table for the next seating. We were encouraged to linger over our wine as the next guests were not scheduled for another hour. Overall a delightful experience filled with wonderful tastes and excellent service. Highly recommend!
Romantic and pricy, but worth it!. We love hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but we also love indulging in ‘fine’ cuisine. Celebrations is a true diamond in the rough. Coming from a metropolitan city with a handful of AAA four diamond restaurants and several chefs who competed on Food Network’s Iron Chef, and/or have won prestigious awards, we did not have high hopes of finding an excellent dining experience in Cape Girardeau but Celebrations restaurant was a pleasant find. It is set in an old house that has been renovated into a restaurant so it offers that cozy feeling of a house. The rooms are small and are well decorated. There is even a nice small private room for a special occasion romantic dinner with a wall composed of strategically placed wine corks. The staff was extremely polite and knowledgeable and filled all my expectations of a restaurant of this caliber. We ordered off the prix fix menu which offered 4 courses for only $50, which I thought was reasonable for a fine dining restaurant. The first course was ham topped with an over-easy egg with a delicious fava bean sauce. It was flavorful and well presented. Our second course was a perfectly cooked filet of salmon served with a scrumptious corn succotash and tomato sauce. Our main entre was beef tenderloin which was outstanding and cooked to perfection. The dessert was a raspberry sorbet float that was just ok, nothing to write home about. Our friend went with the server’s recommendation and ordered the banana crme pie–the portion was HUGE and he devoured every bit of it.Overall, the employees are friendly, the food tastes good, the price is reasonable for fine cuisine. Not to mention, the presentation is elegant and lovely. If it wasn’t for the in house air conditioner machine and a few other nuances (i.e. novice knowledge of the bartender and lack of common cocktail items such as fresh blueberries, basil, and pineapple), this restaurant could be comparable to a AAA four diamond restaurant. Celebrations restaurant is a true diamond in the rough, we will definitely return to tantalize and satisfy our taste buds. Every experience will be exciting since the menu changes almost weekly.
