Yes it’s smoky but you won’t notice once you try the food. Just like another local favorite that is pretty smoky but has delicious food. No restaurant can compete with the Man Size. I didn’t want to swallow the French toast because it was soo good that I wanted to just keep tasting it over and over. BEST. FRENCH TOAST. EVER.
I am a Chicago resident and visit Cape Girardeau every weekend .On 10/27/13 I went to Sands Pancake house with 8 other guest and waited 15 mins for a seat, which was expected. At 11:05 am the waitress took our order at noon I had to ask how much longer our food would take because it had been an hour and other customers that arrived after us had already received their food. When the manager came back she explained there were two other orders ahead of us and they had not even started to cook our food yet! TERRIBLE Customer service. The waitress never even noticed we were still sittig there, really? Its not a very big place and we were not hard to see. SHE SAID SHE WOULD UNDERSTAND IF WE NEEDED TO LEAVE AND NEVER, NOT ONCE APOLIGIZED!!!! I CANT WAIT TO PUT THEM ON BLAST ON FACEBOOK!
Food wasn’t bad. Wait staff was lazy and did nothing but complain. Coffee? This isn’t coffee. I’ve had stronger water. Disappointing experience for sure. Don’t waste your time.

Man Sized Breakfast. I went to this place for the first time today after a friend told me about it. BEST PANCAKES EVER!!! Real pancakes, not crappy ones but real homemade pancakes. And they were massive! I got the man sized breakfast with 3 pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, and toast. I thought I would get these tiny pancakes I was wrong. After the first one I was stuffed. I will be going back for sure. The other items on the menu look good as well, I plan on trying them all. They only accept cash so be warned, they do have an ATM though. Try it, you won’t regret it.
SANDS. Dirty and Smoky won’t be back!!!
The pancakes weigh almost a pound each.
