Okay cookies but why are the employees rude?
A utilitarian cookie joint. Let’s clarify this up front: these cookies aren’t anything special. I’ve had other cookies that are far more exciting. BUT, for simple, classic cookies, this place gets it right. Both of the cookies that I had (a hot and fresh cookies and cream [read white and milk chocolate chip] and a fresh, but not hot M&M cookie) were perfect on the outside (slightly crunchy and golden brown) and very soft and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. Are they worth $1? Maybe…Bottom line: If you’re craving homey, well-executed classic cookies at any time of the day or night, Hot Box is your place. For a more gourmet experience, look elsewhere.
Meh… Do NOT like the new set up. So visited today with the wife and kiddos. Very disappointed. #1. Clerk was less than interested in taking our order. #2. Clerk made it clear he would prefer we purchase some of the cookies in the case rather than design our own order. #3. No menu or signage & apparently no specials or cookie of the day, etc. (home Mizzou football game day even…?!?) #4. New minimum of 12 cookies for picking your own dough, toppings, etc.We paid $16 for 7 (not fresh, cold) cookies & 3 drinks…. definitely not worth circling the block 3 times for a parking spot a block away. There are a ton of tastier, cheaper options with much easier access than Hot Box.We’ll likely give it another try in a few weeks after they’ve worked out the kinks of the new digs. But, they’ll only got one more chance.
I LOVE their cookies!! The peanut butter are my very favorite, but every kind are amazing!! The fact that they can deliver makes this place super dangerous for me and my scale.
So Good!. I got a bog of 12 custom cookies about a month after moving to CoMo when I first found this establishment. Being a real sucker for fresh cookies, homemade oatmeal raisin cookies especially….. I had to try them here of course!I was not disappointed either! I ordered them with almonds added in which was the best choice I could made last minute! They make them right then and there for you and I was lucky cause no other order was placed ahead of me when I came in. Within 10-12 minutes I had a box of hot cookies in hand. In the 10 minute drive home my car suddenly had the aroma of a bakery and I only prayed it would stay forever!The cookies still warm at home were perhaps some of the best I have ever had period! They do not use anything but natural, raw ingredients from local suppliers so they must be eaten within 2-3 days or frozen to keep from spoiling since they have nothing in them to preserve the cookies. You must try this place at least once to gain a strong reference to how good cookies should taste and smell!
I used to love Hot Box, but then things changed. They have greatly reduced their ingredient options and acquired at least one rude cashier. Their cookies are not good enough (and are usually overcooked) to justify the price. Hot Box is great for undergrads who don’t have access to an oven or a car, but you’d be better off buying pre-made dough at the grocery store than coming to Hot Box.
