Lakota is a great cozy & quiet place to study, meet for lunch, or grab a cup of coffee. They roast their beans in house every day, so there isn’t a place to get fresher coffee anywhere. Their baristas work super hard and definitely deserve to be tipped!! The location in the University Hospital is just as good; they get their coffee, sandwiches, etc straight from the downtown location and work through the longest line of people waiting for coffee I have ever seen, every single day. To me, this is very telling of the quality of their products and their customer service. While there are more coffee options in the hospital and around downtown, there are several reasons so many people only go to Lakota.
Wow……..just wow…… Well, to start off with I have been a regular for over a year now. BUT NOT ANYMORE…… And why you ask? Today I was told bye an employee that the owner (who was sitting next to me for most the time) I was there during my second visit on the same day not recognizing and even saying after confronting me that I have failed to purchase any product while I was using there internet service provided free for customers… After spending 100’s of dollars at Lakota over past visits not to mention the $13.40 I had spent this very same day!?!?!?!? If this is how they treat their regulars than I’m just going to go over Kaldi’s right across the street! Who for one have a way better product not to mention reasonable prices and WAY WAY WAY WAY better customer service. I could understand a blip like this from a new employee but for the actual OWNER to try and run me off even after meeting me a week prior saying that he has never seen me before…… moral of the story is I hope he chokes on his crappy overpriced coffee and his crunchy moldy sandwiches. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly as regular customer in my life…………….
Used to be my favorite coffee shop. This place really did, It started going down hill I think the employees are very very rude. They all are snobby, you sit at the bar and even if they are just drying out a can they wont strike conversation with you. Its like highschool all over again. They pump everything up with syrup I can buy online for cheaper. I do like their short shot though… its a decent price for a couple shots of espresso with a little bit of creme. <3
Bad deal. Although their coffee is decent, the environment and service ruin the experience. I have a local discount card which gives a discount here, and, despite a sign indicating the discount in their window, the barista had no knowledge of the it. Even though I showed her the card and she acknowledged it, she gave me the total without including any discount. Fortunately her superior was lounging at a table close by and instructed her to give me the discount. Further marring the experience, the place smells like a nursing home and looks like it too. Bottom line: the vanilla latte is good, but is definitely not worth the price or enduring the staff or the environment.
I love it here! Best dirty chai I’ve had in the united states. It’s also nice to be at a proper local coffee house.
Cool place. Bad food and drinks.. How can you have such bad food and drinks when you are right across the street from Kaldi? Shouldn’t you try to compete? They are overpriced too. Terrible hot chocolate. Bad tea. Ok coffee (but why go for ok when there is good coffee across the street). Their baked goods are dried out and over priced. They taste like they were made weeks ago. But the atmosphere is cool. It kind of looks like a lodge. But is that worth the bad fare?
Avoid. I used to frequent this place until they started playing rap over the loudspeakers. Haven’t been back since.
