  Chinese menu beyond average fare.. Just some suggestions that make Peking in Columbia, MO special and beyond most standard Chinese restaurants in twon.Peking has an additional Chinese menu beyond the normal everyday stuff. Many dishes that are not avertised that I can only order by description. The owner has had us try numerous dishes once she learned that we wanted the nonstandard stuff. We typically eat them family style and split the check evenly. Normally, we get one fewer dish than the number of people. Also, they have a house sambal if you like to kick your food up a few notches, but you need to ask for it.Some of the dishes include:1) Spicy pork soup with bok choy (heavy on garlic)-best soup anywhere2) Cumin beef (more dry than saucy)3) Roasted pork belly in dark anise sauce (not always available)4) Stir-fry eggplant (the eggplant carmelizes a bit and is a sweet dish)5) Pork belly meat ball soup (monster size meat balls)5) Sliced cold chicken with hot oil6) Black pepper beef (like chinese fajita mix)7) Stir fry chitlin’s (too barnyard for my taste, but my Thai friend liked it alot also not always available)8) Spicy steamed wontons (looks kind of like a chicken on your plate)-appetizer9) Pork belly on mustard greens

  Bad experience for you, great experience for 15 years for me!!. We’ve all had an experience at a restaurant that doesn’t meet our expectations….it happens. My wife and I have had the pleasure of eating at Peking for 15 years and the food quality has always met our expectations. Has the service been perfect each time… Absolutely not. But let me say something about the owners. They have ALWAYS been very attuned to customers (ours) needs and always making sure that we have been taken care of by their wait staff. I was in the food service business for many years and know that my employees didn’t always represent the business as I would have liked. Could this have been a college student trying to make a couple of bucks, absolutely. But I can tell you it wasn’t the owners trying to steal from you. They are not thieves!

I love Peking Restaurant, and sometimes I can’t find my take out menu lying around my house, so I have taken the opportunity to list out the chicken items that the text menu has missed.   New favorite. Got a takeout order of General Tso chicken. A little bit more expensive than other Chinese places but the quality is much better so it’s worth it. Large pieces of chicken and a really nice, spicy sauce.

  Fichng ho de shpn. I have been eating @ Pekings since 1984..From NYC to Columbia…(it use to b downtown across the street from shakespears)…The service..The Food..The attention given to the people who come to eat there is unmatched…Best Chinese in Columbia Missouri..Wo ai ni..Mrs. Anne/Peking Family
