This is a specialty / craft coffee shop that also roasts their own coffee…and they do it really well. Came here from the recommendation of the folks at Sump in St. Louis. First shop I’ve been to that uses manual extraction. My Kenyan espresso was very light bodied (probably due to the type of extraction) yet was full of the earthy goodness that I would expect. If you want coffee done the way it should be, come here.
A good cup of coffee. I was really sad when Frequency Coffee (the previous occupant of this space) closed, as it was the only coffee shop in CoMo that focused on the coffee instead of sweet and creamy peripheries. However, I’m happy to report the Shortwave is nearly identical (even in name) to Frequency. The main differences are Shortwave’s prices are a little better and they roast their own beans. My Aeropress was quite good, and the environment is still as cool as ever. My only complaint is the owners are a little…..hyper. I think they need to dial back their coffee intake =)Bottom line: The best cup of coffee in CoMo. If you truly love coffee (not dairy sugar bombs), you need to check out Shortwave!
