We have dined here 3 times so far; every trip to Columbia. This is the best restaurant we’ve found in Columbia. On our first visit in June 2013, the two of us had AMAZING service and food. (That server told us she was leaving and we were seriously disappointed; she was that good)On our past two visits, we brought our teenage children with us so we ordered significantly more food. On both visits, the service was slow and not as personable as our first visit. Food-wise we had some delicious meals and one or two that were not great. Last evening, I had the trout which was wonderful; perfect crust on the skin yet light and moist inside. My son had the ribeye and we all tried it and were disappointed. It was chewy and appeared to be a strip instead of a ribeye. ??? My husband had the lamb terrine which had a mealy texture but that could be the nature of the dish; have never had terrine made from lamb. I also had the mushroom bisque which was very good also, tasting heavily of butter; good but could have been more mushroomy. We have ordered the oysters every time and they are very fresh. Last night our table was in the back corner and it appeared that we were forgotten most of the night. We thought we might pass out from hunger. A 730 reservation and we didn’t have our dinner until 930. This hasn’t been an issue before; so I’d avoid that table. Actually, our server apologized every time she came to our table, so she may have been forgetting about us since she didn’t have any other tables in our area. If you don’t want to venture to Rocheport for dinner, this is by far the best place we’ve found in Columbia. You can also order half portions of many items so it is not necessarily an expensive meal. Definitely go there when in Columbia!
Fries.. After the menu change, I’ve been back for lunch several times. Why? For some excellent fries. Truly delicious, I implore you to go, only to try some delicious fries.
SUPERB!. If you read my review from Nov. 17th, nothing has changed! Still 5 star service and food. Came with daughter and son-in-law for special occasion and we were not disappointed…again. From appetizers to entrees…all was excellent…even granddaughter’s pasta alfredo was great! I agree with Molly…this is the best restaurant in Columbia that we have been to so far in the two months we’ve lived here! We’ll be back!17 Nov, 2012Dined there last night (1st time for us); the food & service is 5 star! The 4 of us shared the Pork Belly Skewers & Ahi Tuna; both were excellent. I wanted more! I had the seasonal Lamb Terrine & my wife had the Curried Trout; both bursting with delectable flavor! Our dining friends enjoyed the Lamb Terrine (he) and the Seared Scallops & Lemongrass Rice Cake. Desserts? Ouch yummy! Just great! Great place to relax, enjoy a glass of vino and excellently prepared food. The owner also specializes in using locally grown ingredients where possible. The Wine Cellar is a MUST stop. We will be returning to try their other offerings!
Best restaurant in Columbia period! We tried several appetizers and each was better than the one before. The entrees were decadent and the deserts made for a perfect send off. All the ingredients are sourced from local vendors and the quality shown through in every bite. My only criticism is the price of the appetizers. However, the overall experience was worth every penny.
Cute and quaint restaurant. Great service! He knew the menu and was very attainable, but not overly. The food was presented beautifully but needed salt. Overall we would return!
I went here for a birthday, expecting good food. Not great food. I started with the mushroom sampler, which was unique and absolutely delicious. Everyone must have it. Then I ordered the braised duck over risotto and had the creme broulet for dessert. The French technique was on point and added its on local twist to some of the foods. Absolutely delicious food an without a doubt the best in Columbia.
Beautiful complexity of flavors. Excellent service. Worth the splurge.
