Cooper’s Hawk was the perfect lunch spot at the end of a long weekend in Kansas City. This was my first visit to the restaurant and we ordered a pitcher of the peach Sangria which was delicious and the largest pitcher I have ever had a restaurant it is definitely not just for two people but myself and my fatkid friend finished this Sangria like bosses. We could not decide between lunch entres so we had them both and shared. The lunch portions were large! We had the salmon and the maple pretzel crusted pork chop. I highly recommend both. Their were so many great options it was really hard to narrow it down to the two we ordered. Needless to say we did not have room for dessert but I would love to go back and try a paired wine flight with an option from their dessert menu.

The chicken and mashed potatoes dish I got (can’t remember the name of it) was probably the best food I have ever eaten. Wine was awesome- we had the sparkling flight. It’s definitely a special occasion place; a little pricey for an early 20’s just-out-of-college couple. Definitely would go again!

A mid-week visit to this chain eatery was pleasant enough. No issues with checking in for our reservation, and we were greeted promptly by our server. Prices for a Plaza restaurant actually not overwhelming but–if you’re dining here, bring an appetite, because the portions on everything from the appetizers to the entrees were HUGE! The Southwest Chicken Egg Rolls would easily satisfy a party of four-six when paired with the Asian Slaw, which was crisp, fresh, and not over-dressed. I chose the Crab Cakes, and could have easily made due with one portion not the two large and delicious cakes that came again with the Asian Slaw and French Fries. The Pretzel Bread was ok, but served with what I assume was a very salty margarine instead of butter. The Shrimp and Polenta dish couldshine with less polenta and more shrimp, the polenta was tasty but not memorable. I’d say overall a nice evening’s repast, but not a must-repeat spot. The wines were reasonably priced, and just average in terms of price and flavor.
